Invitation to a Party…

You’re invited. I have been working with Moonglade Marketing to handle my promo and a few other things. I am having a party to celebrate the unveiling of my site new streamline design and the release of Shadow Dance, my newest book release on Friday October 19, 2007. My fab web designer MMJ Designs has been hard at work to get everything ready for the party I have planned. Expect a few surprises and lots of fun.

So come on by on October 19 through 21, 2007 for a party. There will be fun and prizes.

Also coming is a new format for my newsletter and updates. Any members who are a part of Passionate Gazette, my current newsletter group and Crenshaw Times, my update groups will be set up to receive the new format for my newsletter/updates.

Musings: I remember ……

Today is September 11 and it carriers so much memories for me and many people. I debated if I should post this but I felt compelled to. I don’t talk about it much but I work close to the World Trade Center and was there that day. Here is what I remember.

I remember already being at work that day and a loud sound.
I remember calling my Mom on the phone and hearing those words the World Trade had been hit. Then silence as the phones went out and we could not speak.
I remember not knowing what was going on and then the fear racing through us all.
I remember going to the lobby of my office building and seeing people coming in blanketed in ash and anguish in their eyes.
I remember the indecision if I should leave or stay at my office.
I remember deciding to leave and that first step outside which brought the taste of ash to my tongue and horror in my mind.
I remember my first step in ash too deep to even leave footprints.
I remember going around the office building and seeing those lone shoes and briefcase sitting there discarded.
I remember meeting a tourist who did not know which way to run.
I remember a terrible sound then a cloud of smoke rushing at us.
I remember running, running and finding strength I did not know I could ever have.
I remember the rumors that the Pentagon was gone and the White House was no more.
I remember that first breath of air free of ash.
I remember the cup of water pushed into my hand by someone trying to help anyway they could.
I remember the droves of people walking without shoes, clothing, and no idea of how we would get home. No knowledge of what had really happened.
I remember the hours after struggling walking, running and finally able to catch public transportation.
I remember the bus ride done in anguished silence.
I remember walking up the block to my house.
I remember the door opening and my mom there to catch me as I collapsed crying and happy to be alive.
I remember the seconds. minutes, hour and days after still not believing that it was real.
I remember the TV images of people pulling together to help then I remembered once again the cup of water that kept me going and I cried more tears.
I remember going back to work that first day after everything. The guns, fear and uncertainty on each corner.
I remember to pray for those found but forever gone.
I remember to pray for those lost and never found.
I remember the hope and perseverance of a city that had lost so much and world never forget.
I remember to thank god each and everyday that I made it out of alive.

Today is September 11 and I remember.

Monday’s Adventure ~ Plotting.........

My current story has a plot that is taking a few unexpected twist and turns. It is surprising me but also making me wonder what is next. I love when a book does that. It is fun and exciting.
So I have been sitting here wondering if I made the twist I just wrote clearly understood. Oh Well as I continue the book I will see how it play out. At the end I will go back over it and see how it works.

Uncovered: Golden Seduction ~ Behind the Story

In this month’s uncovered we explore Golden Seduction which was released today by Ellora's Cave.

So let’s get uncovered….

Golden Seduction, is part of the Torrid Tarot theme stories from Ellora's Cave. It is also the first book in my series Rarities Incorporated. In this uncovered we will be talking about how the story Golden Seduction came to be. My story features the King of Cups tarot card. When I decided to write the story I thought of many things. The most prominent thing I wanted to portray was reverence, duty, desire and love. Aleneic, my hero is a man who has been tested and all he holds dear has been taken from him. He has kept his wisdom and kindness. Aleneic will find a woman whose belief in him will humble and ultimately change him. I’ll be exploring Aleneic in another Uncovered later this month.

For this story I knew I didn’t want a typical heroine. Laila Brooks is a geek at heart. She was more comfortable with her computer and books. With the characters set in my mind I fleshed out their story. From the first words I knew that this story would be a roller coaster of adventure, discovery and hope. It would have many surprises for both Aleneic and Laila.

Golden Seduction is an exploration of all the senses and emotions. It has lots of surprises that even shocked me. There is a sense of hope and sensuality that embodies the story. The hope of my hero and heroine. The sensuality of their love story will touch on many emotions. They will have an adventure and ultimately find love.

Musings: The End……

The End.

These are two most beautiful words to a writer. It means you are done with another book. Well at least until edits and so forth. I wrote these words on not one but two stories in this last week. One was a short read which I already contracted. LOL. I won’t announce with who just yet. But look for details real soon.

It is a good feeling when you get a story complete. Usually after I finish a story I take sometime off before I jump into another story but this time I find that there is a story talking to me. So I have jumped back in and started working on another story. I have a few ideas in my head demanding there time. So for the next few month’s I will be very busy working towards the end.

Monday’s Adventure ~ Anticipation.........

I got my author copies for my September 5 release from Ellora's Cave. Golden Seduction is sexy and hot. It is part of the Torrid Tarot theme stories. My card was the King of Cups.

So I am sitting here anticipating the release of the book. When I got the author copies I started to read it and found myself caught in the story. I got hot, cheered and cried. Yes I wrote it but it was as if I was reading it for the first time.

It was a strange yet good feeling. Did I mention I was anticipating the release of Golden Seduction? LOL. Make sure and go get your copy.

Ah another Friday and a long weekend whooo hoooo. I plan to sit and do some major writing this weekend. So what happened this week?

I finished the story I was working on. Yippeee. I’m editing it for submission. I’ve started on another story. I can’t wait the characters have been buzzing in my head for a while.

On September 5, my next release is Golden Seduction which will be released by Ellora's Cave. It is sexy and hot. It is part of the Torrid Tarot theme stories. My card was the King of Cups. Check in September for the Uncovered look at the novel.

I’ve got the cover art and release date for Sin the story I co-wrote with Layne Blacque which will be released from Total-E-Bound release. The cover art is fabulous. Sin will be released on November 12, 2007.

Un-Edited Excerpt:

A hand reached over and covered her’s. Looking up she met Sanjay’s grey gaze. Looking in his eyes she turned her hand and held his. Linking her fingers with his she rose pushed him back gently with the other hand. Following him she straddled him then reached and linked her fingers with his other hand. He watched her silent. Leaning into him she kissed him. Gently and thoroughly. He murmured then groaned trying to pull away. She held him firmly getting her fill. Raising her lips slowly off of his she watched his eye spark amber lazily.

"Be sure of what you’re doing Tashana.” Sanjay warned.

“I’m sure. Fuck me Sanjay.”

His look was intense. “This goes beyond fucking Tashana. I’m going to make you burn so deep that when I’m not with you it will be like a physical pain. A pain to have me inside of you. Do you want this, Tashana?"

Tashana’s mouth was dry. "Yes.”

Sanjay pulled his hands free pushed his fingers in her hair, dragged her to him and sealed his lips to hers. Eyes locked with his she watched as his eyes sparked wildly. The hunger she felt for him was like nothing she had ever felt. Running her hands down his firm muscular side she used her power to get rid of his clothing and her own. When her hand touched his heated skin she moaned. He sucked it in and gave her his own groan of desire in return.

Musings: Revisiting Changes……

Last week I mentioned I would be making some changes to the blog. Changing around the days I post certain things and so forth. Adding some new things.

Since I was in a changing and planning mood I sat down to make a few changes to my writing calendar. Yeah, yeah I have one. It keeps me on track with what I will write next. What I have planned for my next book and so forth. If a story idea comes up or something unexpected I can shift to accommodate it.

So I was changing my calendar and realized a few things. Well besides I will be busy writing for a good long while. Which is great.

I realized how much my writing has changed. I won’t get all philosophical on you but just say I am pleased with what I am doing now. Pleased with what I have planned.

Ahh the feel of change is good.

Monday’s Adventure ~ I’m back in the fifth grade.........

Each year my nephew gets a summer assignment. He has to get a book read it and do a book report on it. So when he came for the summer we did our usual and went to bookstore so he could pick his book. He read it and did the assignment. I helped of course so I have a vested interest in what happens to it.

So today was the first day of school so I called my sis and asked her how it went. He is in the fifth grade now. My time has flown. She said it was good when I asked about did he turn in the assignment. She said my nephew said the teacher hadn’t asked for it. I was like what. Why didn’t he give it to his teacher instead of waiting for her to ask?

This is my grade too. I worked with him and hell I read the book to make sure the report was true. My sister and I talked about how with the assignments my nephew gets we are both back in school.

Last year my nephew had an assignment to do a Nation notebook and let me tell you I know so much about Spain. It was educational but the assignment called for over 15 pages of information, picture and the whole works. I surfed the internet for info, while my sister and nephew hit the library. I sent a package to my sister and nephew with over 200 pages of information about Spain.

For example did you Spain national anthem Marcha Real is one of the few national anthems in the world to have no official lyrics. It is only music. When I found this out after searching and searching not believing it. When I told my sister we had a debate about my being wrong. I sent the info to her and when she saw I was right she of course apologized. LOL. It was interesting to find out about Spain.

Whenever my nephew gets these complex assignments me and my sister tag team to help him get them done. He does the majority of work but we help. So we go back to school to. So this year we are back in the fifth grade. I’m excited to see what interesting assignment my nephew will get this year. Yeah I know that weird but I love a challenge.

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I read For A Few Demons More by Kim Harrison. I have a confession I am a huge Kim Harrison fan. Her books are on my Read as Bought List but I’ve been so busy I got this book and forgot I had it. LOL. That’s what happens when your TBR pile should have it’s own zip code. For A Few Demons More was sexy, hot, intense and man I was sad at the end. Sigh. But I still loved it.

If you haven’t read the The Hollows stories you need to go get them all and read them. They’re are hot, sexy, intense and action filled. Each book in the series is getting better.

I’ve been up since six o’clock this morning writing. My mind would not stop racing with the story that I am currently writing. The story is flowing fast, intense and hot. I had to take a break after the sex scene. Needed a cold drink. {grin}

Sigh getting up so early is a good thing, right. Yeah it is but am I tired. I am off to bed now so I can get up and do it all again tomorrow. LOL.

Ah another Friday. I plan to sit and do some major writing this weekend. Now that my family has finished there visit I can get back to my schedule. My Families summer visit is always fun but it takes me a week or two to get back on schedule. Now I am ready to tackle some projects that I had put on hold. So what happened this week?

I’m still working away on the new story that is intense, emotional and hot. Can’t say anything else. Just that it is intense.

Musings: Changes……

These last few weeks I was thinking of making some changes to my blog. Changing around the days I post certain things and so forth. Adding some new things. Look out for a few things coming to the blog real soon. Some of these changes will tie in with blog, Crenshaw Cafe- my chat group , and my website.

As I was thinking of changes to my blog I started thinking of other changes I have made in my life recently. I won’t go into detail but all the changes I have made in these last few month’s has enriched my life, made me stronger and set me on a path for my future goals. The first half of this year I had major upheavals that I had to face and overcome. Which, I did but with some bruises and disillusionment. I gained some wonderful people in my life and lost a few who I came to realize were not as they seemed. This time has been eye opening and I wonder what will come next.

Although there are very few month’s left in this year I know there will be more things coming my way. And no matter if they are good, bad or indifferent I will face them down as I have done everything else. Whenever I have a birthday I like to think and that is why I usually take time away for myself. So in my introspection I came to these conclusions.

Who I am will not change.

What I believe will not falter.

Where I am going will not be stopped.

How I get there is still to be reveled.

When I get there I will know.

Even when I am there I will strive for the next and next.

This is what living and life is all about. Striving and being more.

Monday’s Adventure ~ Kindness begets kindness….

I took a break from online last week and did some me time. In my last Monday’s Adventure I briefly mentioned how P., my good friend and sister pulled one over on me by getting me a brand new Dell color laser jet printer. The old laser jet I had which was only black ink gave out on me. My plan was to buy a new one. So I was searching for one to get but was hesitant on actually getting my dream one which was a color laser jet.

Well my friend and sister went and got it for me. It was a hard thing for me to accept because you see I am usually the giver and to take something even as a gift is hard for me. When I asked my sister when the printer came why she had done something like this without my knowledge. Her answer was P. came to her with it and because they knew I would refuse they said nothing before hand. My sister also said I should accept it gracefully and shut up. Well that shut my mouth. LOL. But of course I couldn’t let it rest I asked my friend P. today why she had done such a thing.

Well I am sure you guessed it. She said it was because I would refuse it and I deserved to have it. She also said I would do the same for her. Now I couldn’t leave it alone. So I asked why and she simply said. Kindness begets kindness.

After she said that I had to sit back and I’ll admit it I cried like a baby. It was a humbling thing for me a giver to realize it is also good to let others give to you instead of just being the giver. Now I am not saying I don’t let others help me but it is hard for me to ask. This I didn’t ask for and it was so much more special. So this Monday’s Adventure was one that I hope you all can pass on now and in the future. Do something from the heart. It leaves a warm feeling that is priceless.

This was my adventure for today.

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I read The Company You Keep and Tangled Roots by Angela Henry. This is an amateur sleuth type mystery that features a character named Kendra Clayton. It was great, funny and kept me guessing. I bought these a while ago but never got around to reading them.

I am now an Angela Henry fan. I checked and saw Diva's Last Curtain –the next Kendra Clayton novel – was released a few month’s ago. I plan to go and pick it up.

New Contract's and Website Launch

I am pleased to announce a special project I have been working on these last few weeks.

I have written a joint story with the very talented Layne Blacque for the whole story how this came about check out her blog here.

Monday’s Adventure ~ My Birthday.........

My Monday’s Adventure started from last Friday. As you can see I took a break from online.

Today is my birthday so I took this last weekend and this week to relax. So there was no blogs, or group posts and little internet (hey I can't do without no internet). I plan to take the rest of this week and relax. I'll be around but very little. I will be partying for my birthday. Yep my birthday. Yipppeee...

And I have to say thanks to thank all my friends for the wonderful cards and good wishes. Also I have to thank P., my good friend and sister who pulled one over on me. They got me a brand new shinny dell color laser jet printer. My printer gave out on me and I was planning to get a new one but they beat me to it. Isn't it pretty. So I am having a great b-day.

A world where they had rights like everyone else. In this world they needed a force to keep order. Thus the Nefer Investigation Force was created. It is an elite group of agents who work to keep order.

Tashana is a Nefer Agent and she is used to making life or death decisions on a daily basis. These decisions can change the delicate balance of the world. In her latest assignment Tashana had to face many obstacles that will test all her will and beliefs. It will be emotional, sensual and surprising to Tashana all she will go through.

Tashana has withstood a tragedy that shaped her life. Now she is forced to confront what has happened. The outcome will not only shape her future but the future of the entire world. Tashana is kick ass take no prisoner’s personality made her fun, challenging and frustrating to write. She broke all barriers and knocked down the walls. Musings: The Emotion of Writing

I had an interesting discussion the other day. Okay I’ll admit it was more of a debate. It was concerning a book a mutual friend and I had both read. She didn’t like and I loved it.

That led to a long debate of us both listing out points and countering why we liked or disliked the book. We got loud and emotionally about our point of view.It was interesting. We had others around us who had read the book chiming in and those who hadn’t asking more about it. It even led to other discussion of various author’s work we liked, did not like, the reasons why or why not. It was a very reveling conversation.

This is the emotion of writing. No matter if your book is not liked or liked. It has created an emotion. As an author this is what I want to do. Whether it is good or bad. I want you to feel it. The one thing I do not want is apathy. That is like a punch to any writer. Please NO APATHY. Give me any emotion and I will feel that I have done my job.

Now I am not saying if I get a bad review or email that a reader didn’t like my work I won’t get a little upset at first. But when it comes down to it I will be content and happy. I created a reaction.

An Emotion.

I touched the reader in someway. From that little debate I had the other day. I realized that people will remember you if they have enough emotion whether good or bad. I got a few new authors to try just from that conversation alone. Hey just because someone didn’t like a book doesn’t mean what they saw as flaws I or another reader wouldn’t see as treasures.

Come on and share the books you have read and created strong emotion. Don’t be shy it can be good or bad.

TBR Book ~ August 5, 2007

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I read The Wicked and The Forsaken by L.A. Banks. I have a confession I am a huge L.A. Banks fan and at first her books were on my Read as Bought List but I had to move them. I hide them until there are at least two I have not read. Why because I got frustrated waiting for the next one to come out. Yeah, yeah there isn't that much time between books but I want the next book as soon as I finish the one I am reading. This time was no diffrent I wanted the next book after The Cursed. Sigh. The Darkness doesn't come out until next year. {Grumble} I want it now. {Soft swear} Crap I have to wait for it.

If you haven’t read the Vampire Huntress Legend stories you need to go get them all and read them. They are hot, sexy, and action filled. Be warned they are addictive. Each book in the series is getting better.

Movie oh my...

I went to the movies today and saw so many great movies. I saw the Bratz which was cute and funny. Also say Underdog it was also funny and good. Yeah I know these two are kind of kiddie movies but I have an excuse, I went with my nephew and we had a blast.

Liar, Liar pants on fire.

Okay, okay I admit it I loved both movies, I love disney movies too, and animated movies. {Grin} At least this time I had my nephew with me so I didn't get such strange looks. LOL.
I saw like 10 minutes of Bourne Ultimatium. {rolling eyes} It's a long story. All I can say is babysitting and movies don't mix.

I plan to go back and see Bourne Ultimatium. Also can't wait for Rush Hour 3 next weekend.

Friday and I have a busy weekend. Plan to take in a few movies with the visiting family and have a party that I am helping prepare food for. Sigh. Fun and work {grin} two of my favorite things. So what happened this week?

Working away on a new story. It is intense. Can’t say anything else. Just that it is intense.

A little over two days until my release Onyx Moon Rising which is being released by Liquid Silver Books. I can’t wait. Onyx Moon Rising will be released on August 6, 2007. Be sure and get your copy. In this month’s uncovered we explore my upcoming release Onyx Moon Rising.

Onyx Moon Rising, will be released on August 6, 2007 at Liquid Silver Books. In this uncovered we will be talking about how the story Onyx Moon Rising came to be. I wanted to create a world where supernatural beings were known to humanity. A world where they had right like everyone else. In this world they needed a force to keep order. Thus the Nefer Investigation Force was created. It is an elite group of agents who work to keep order. Tashana - my heroine – is powerful and take no prisoner’s. Tashana will be in another Uncovered later this month.

Sanjay – my hero – is secretive and mysterious when he came to me. I knew what he was would thrown Tashana for a loop. Despite what he is she would be attracted to him. Tashana is utmost a solider and she would do what is demanded of her. Onyx Moon Rising is an intricate world with lots of twists and turns. I wanted the plot to have a mythology behind what my characters were and the world they inhabit.

The world of Onyx Moon Rising, will lead Tashana and Sanjay them on a path that will make there destiny or destroy the world. The passion and intrigue around them go hand in hand. The surprises enrich their adventure. Each has their own things they must face.

Onyx Moon Rising, leads you on a path of not only a passion but redemption. There are a few other surprises thrown in and more to follow in the next books.

Musings: Let me Speak I have a Voice

“Come on it should go this way.” Voice A states.

“No I want it this way.” Voice B defends

“You better let me speak or…” Voice A warns.

“Or else what?” Voice B shoots back.

“I won’t say a word and we’ll see how far you get without me.” Voice A said with no inflection in the tone.

“Both of you shut the hell up and work together.”

Voice C says in exasperation and walks away.

Voice A and B watch each other fear on their face and run after Voice C to apologize.

This is a mythical conversation between a writer (Voice B), the characters (Voice A), and the muse (Voice C).

As a writer it is hard when you have vision of how a story will go then it takes a different turn because of how the characters want it to be. My characters live for me. They have personalities, wants, desires, and opinions just like anyone else. I learned long ago to let them speak and give their opinion. I learned to work together instead of against each other. This helps me create vivid real people and paranormal beings that make you want to laugh, cry, fight, and love with them. Writing takes a mix of all parts working together.

Don’t get me wrong in no way it is always roses and harmony but we have learned to work together. When my characters and me come to an impasse usually my muse Mikayla will come in and knock sense into both of us. Or if Mikayla (she is a bit bossy) goes on the she knows the best and no one else knows crap frame of mind I have my own ways to get her to listen to reason. It involves a whip, keyboard, and chair. Heck it is too complicated to explain but it works. Me, Mikayla, and my characters (in whatever novel I am working in) work as a team to get the best story out to you the reader.

This may seem strange that they are real to me but then again writers have a tendency to have a vivid imagination. Stop it Mikayla. Back the hell up.

Mikayla here. I’m not part of anyone’s imagination. I’m just the more flashier side of Taige. She thinks I’m bossy. Please that woman is a hard task maker who demands the best of the characters and me. It’s a challenge to live up to but we have to step up or get rolled over by the gentle whirl-spin that is Taige Crenshaw. Yeah, yeah that was sarcasm if you missed it. Taige isn’t gentle when it comes to her work. I remember… Ah Crap I have to go. Taige is fighting something fierce as I sit on her. Hey son of a .. watch the damn teeth.

You have to excuse Mikayla as I said she is a bit bossy and thinks she knows everything. As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted (glaring at Mikayla while she looks down at her nails a smug little grin on her face). In the process of creating characters that live everyone has to be a part of the process. You have to listen to each other’s opinion. Years ago this was hard for me. I had a vision I wanted and the characters / Mikayla each had their own thoughts. When I realized in order for us to make the best book we can we all had to join forces. I learned to listen but not let the personalities of the characters and Mikayla drown me. We find a balance that works for us all.

Even when I read I hear the voice of the characters. I don’t know if that’s just me but I do and I enjoy novels that the characters voice speak to me more. Even some characters that stick with me even after the story is finished I take with me as I sleep. They pop up in my dreams. That to me is a sign of a great book. Characters that stay with you afterwards and make you wonder what is going on in their lives.

With my own characters that I have already written I don’t have to wonder. They pop up in my dreams also letting me know they are still there. Who am I kidding the new characters and Mikayla when we are on a role won’t let me sleep or have a moment to myself. Well that is a different topic for another blog. LOL. Yeah my mind is full and I love it.

Monday’s Adventure ~ The Mini Vacation is over........

For my Monday’s Adventure I went back to the day job.

My week off was fun but tiring. I went back to work and it was a busy day. My mini vacation wore off in five minutes after walking through the door. I was going and going like the energizer bunny all day. Now I’m home I am worn out. So this will be a short post so I can go to bed.

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I read Kitty Goes to Washington and Kitty Takes a Holiday by Carrie Vaughn. If you haven’t read these stories you need to go and read them. They were really good. It was funny, sexy and interesting. I loved Kitty from the first book I read and with each book it is getting better. It was a good read.

A visit to Build A Bear

I went for a visit to Build a Bear with my visting family. If you read my previous blog you know I love stuffed animals and I haven’t bought any for over a year. And I’m proud to say I made it out of Build a Bear without buying anything for myself.

My sister bough me a little something so that helped me not to buy. LOL. It was a fun visit. So many clothes to choose for your bear and such. My nephew got two bears. One is Shrek. It so cute. Well I am off to help him finish dressing the his stiffed animals.

Deciding not to dwell on it, Shay turned away from the window and toward the bathroom attached to her office. Inside the bathroom, she opened the closet and took out the turquoise dress she had originally worn to work. As Shay stripped she felt the dampness of her clothes. Quickly tossing them in the basket next to the sink Shay stepped into the shower.

Twenty minutes later she strode back into her office walking to her desk. Absently she glanced out the window then away. Jerking her attention back to the window she saw it was clear. Frowning she wondered how long after sex the EFF Syndrome would last and if she would be seeing Mikhail’s hungry eyes looking at her all day.

The ringing of her phone interrupted Shay’s thoughts. “Exotic.” Putting it out of her mind Shay got to work.

* * * * *

She tastes like ambrosia. Standing outside Shay’s office window Mikhail watched Shay working. When he had looked up and seen her through the window he had wondered what she was doing. There were people going up and down the sidewalk outside her window. No one even stopped or looked at her. With her little show he couldn’t resist coming closer to look.

Although weak the strength of the enchanted glass had pushed at his senses. Absently he wondered who would have thought to have it installed. It had to be someone who knew there were other things in this world besides the humans. Looking closer he realized that it had a council mark. That in itself was a rare thing. He couldn’t think of anyone on Earth Realm who had that kind of pull with the council. Feeling it he could tell it hadn’t been reinforced, as it should have been. He happened to glance up in time to see Shay pull up her skirt and start to touch herself.

Musings: A Spin On Things

You’re probably wondering what the top I used in this blog is all about. I like to think of it as my talisman when I write. I don’t have a real one yet but I look at the picture of the top that I have posted in my office and wonder about all the possibilities. Then I break all those possibilities and push the boundaries.

Just like a top I like to add my spin on things and let them land where fate deems fit. As a writer I strive to be different. When I sit down and write a story I write not just as a writer but also as a reader. I want to be entertained and want to entertain, thrill, entice and make you come back for more. Many say there is power with free speech. I say there is power in the way you write the words in your free speech. It is amazing what the human brain can come up with and I am asked many times how I come up with my ideas and I always find there is not really a way to articulate how I come up with ideas. I just simply say I put my spin on it.

Yet it is so much more. One of my greatest ideas places lately is the Subway. Yes you heard me right the Subway. As I ride to and from work and people are rushing to get to work or get the heck home I sit and dream of the next adventure I will take. I laugh, cry and curse as the plot plays in my head like it is happening to me at that moment. Yes as you can imagine I get strange looks but I don’t care I am too deep in my story for it to even register. Well unless someone actually asks me what is wrong then they wish they didn’t as I bring them into my story to. LOL. If the mood strikes me I’ve been know to pull out paper and if that’s not available tissue/napkins and write. I scribble furiously and get my ideas down and even chapters. You can imagine how my desk looks with papers when I get ready to write. LOL.

Now back to the spin on things. Differences are what make us and I like to explore that then smash it to push it to the extreme. I have found that this works for me. The trick is you have to let go and let the muse take you where it will. Me and Mikayla - my muse (yes she has a name because she is very demanding and opinionated) have a good working relationship. Meaning I let her have free rein and when I do it works in both our favors. We push each other to do more and give more. With each book I sit to write I wonder what will make this different and memorable then I realize that no matter what you write as long as you put your spin on it you already have the battle of a great story won.

I try and create novels that are unrestrained by reality. Hell I build worlds that defy definition and enjoy each and every improbable part of it. I love fulfilling anything I think is needed in a great story. Of course that means an engaging plot, lots of sex, fantasy and escape. An escape from the normal everyday and into the pages of a wonderful tale. I revel in the forays of the alpha male hero type and the kick butt heroine whether they be human, vampire, shape shifter, witch or anything else. There is freedom when you let go the restrictions and let the imagination free. Step outside what is expected. I love, fight and live with all those characters I create. Isn’t this really what it is all about? Taking a spin and letting it flow.

Novels are an adventure just waiting for you to open the pages and take a whirl. It is all about imagination and using it to escape. So take a spin and see where you end up and let your mind escape…

Monday Adventure ~ Babysitting….

For my Monday’s Adventure it started with the rain.

I’m a off from work this week {yippeeee} so I planned on doing the tourist thing with my family who is visiting. It rained a lot today and we were not able to go out. My niece who wasn’t feeling well came over so we spent the day babysitting.

All I can say is if she was sick I was a hula girl on the planet Zultar. She was all over the place. Since I am known as the fun Aunty I was right behind her running around the house like we both had lost our minds. {Grin} Yeah it was fun.

Now that she has gone home with her mom I hurt in places I didn’t know I had. Now I am off to have a stiff drink and soak my aching muscles. Oy.

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I read If She Only Knew by Lisa Jackson. The story was interesting with lots of suspense and great characters. It was a good read. I checked my shelf for more of Lisa Jackson and saw I had a few more of her books. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Airport.....

Well we went to the airport to get my brother in law. His flight was delayed for five hours. He called to let us know. The airport was a madhouse when we got there. It seemed like so many people flights were delayed. After he finally arrived we waited for {insert a dum dum dum dum sound here} the LUGGAGE.

We anxiously watched for it. After the experience of my own lost luggage and my sister’s we didn’t hold much hope that he would get his right away.

I was proven wrong. He got all his luggage. Yippeee. They looked so nice sitting there. We snapped them up and almost kissed them in glee. Just to get them was a feat. So we rolled them out of the airport. I was expecting some airline official would take them back from us and say uh huh your luggage got through. That’s a no no let’s lose them for you. {Grin}.

So we are happy today, despite the delay in flight we are leaving the airport with luggage. It feels so good. Not to mention I am off this upcoming week to do the tourist thing around New York with my visiting family. I’ve been limbering up for all the walking. My feet are ready to go. I don’t know about the rest of me but I’ll let you know how it goes.

And I am looking forward to taking my nephew to Build a Bear. My no stuffed animals buying is at an end. {Wicked grin} Someone should warn Build a Bear to look out Taige, she’s about to go stuffed animal and doll crazy. Shhh don’t tell I want it to be a surprise. LOL.

Weekly Wrap-up ~ Writing, New Release Date and Website Update

Friday and I have a lot planned this weekend. The first is another trip to the airport to pick up my brother in law. {Sigh} As you know me and the airlines are having some problems. Lost luggage and so forth. So what happened this week?

Still working away on my story that has my mind racing and heart pounding. The twist and turns are making it interesting. Still being mysterious about what my current project is. Want to have it done before I say too much.

Less than a week before my next release from EC Carnal Awakening. I am so excited. Carnal Awakening will be released on July 27, 2007. And then I got some more news I got the release date for Onyx Moon Rising, which is coming from Liquid Silver Books. The release date August 6, 2007. Whoo Hooo... So I have two releases coming right behind each other.

Also got the release date for Shadow Dance which is coming from Ellora's Cave. The release date December 7, 2007. Whoo Hooo... Make sure to mark your calendar’s.

Musings: Reader Gold - Series/Serials ~ the nity gritty

With all the reading I have been doing lately my thoughts have turned to another blog I wrote before. I've updated it a little from my original post.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about series and serials. What they are and how I feel about them. There are so many books coming out each month and a lot of them are part of a series/serial.

First here are my definitions of them both:

Series ~ Taige Crenshaw Definition:

Novels that has a related story theme but each one is complete in and of itself.

Serial ~ Taige Crenshaw Definition:

Novels that feature/follows the same main character/s yet are still a fresh story each time.

No matter which way you slice it I find whether it is a serial or series I enjoy writing stories like this. It gives me room to stretch my mind, push my characters to give me more and wallow in there adventure even more. Although I enjoy these stories I don’t usually start writing with the intention of it being a series/serial sometimes it just happens to evolve that way.

I write what I love to read and I’m one of those readers that wondered what is next for such and such main character. Or what happened to this sub - character that I liked in this or that novel. I go hunting to find more and when I find it I feel like I’ve struck READER’S GOLD. I jump up and down and shout in glee. LOL.

I remember an instance where I picked up an author that I hadn’t tried before. The novel was great and imagine my glee that I struck reader gold and it was a series. I went back and bought all of there novels except one it was sold out. I searched and searched for years for this one book and couldn’t find a copy. Not even a used one. I even contacted the author to find out if the story was going to be re-printed. To my dismay it wasn’t at that time. Amazon even had over 200 people waiting for a copy of this book when I checked. I stopped checking the numbers after I saw the amount of people. No one was selling. A few years after looking I finally struck reader gold in 2005 when the book was reprinted and I was able to finish my collection. I know me and over 199 other people very happy.

As my thought’s of Reader’s Gold evolved I thought of all the author’s who have some wonderful series/serials that I feel are Reader’s Gold. They line my shelf and I go looking for them when they are released. Everyone should have a little Reader’s Gold on there book shelf.

Can you imagine so many readers looking for an author. Searching for that Reader’s Gold. That is what I want my novels to be to my current and future readers ~ Reader’s Gold. No I don’t want you the reader to wait a long time for my books but I want you to be so drawn into the worlds that I create you can’t wait to see what happens next.

Monday Adventure ~ Customer Service….

For my Monday’s Adventure it started with a call to a company I placed an order with.

A few weeks ago I placed an order for some new clothes. Since I am an avid seamstress when I buy clothes I like to do it in person so I can actually touch the clothes and check out how it is made. Well I was looking through a catalog which I should know better than to do. I get tempted to buy and since I can’t actually go to a physical store to see and touch the outfit I usually pass on buying it. Well this time I gave into my weakness and ordered this cute dress and a few other things. I kept out hope they would be okay.

I got my order yesterday and after picking it up I eagerly rushed home to open it. I’m happy to say the dress was even better than in the catalog. The other pieces I ordered was also good however {now you knew there would be a however} one of the outfits I ordered was in the wrong color and size. SO I got on the phone and called the customer service number. After waiting for quite a bit I did eventually get to a customer service person. I explained my problem. They understood and apologized for the error. They stated they would ship out the correct size and color outfit I ordered as well as send a return postage voucher to send back the wrong one. They even threw in a discount for my next order whenever I choose to make one.

Now that is customer service. I got off the phone quite pleased. Will I order from them again? You bet with customer service like that they will get my business. There is nothing like being pleasant and courteous. Yes that word again. After my last Monday Adventure it was a welcome experience.

TBR Book ~July 15, 2007

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I went with an author who I read an excerpt for on some site and liked it. I went out and bought the book but just added it to my TBR books.

For my TBR Book I read Hell’s Belles by Jackie Kessler. I picked up this book a few month's ago and only am just getting around to reading it. I'm sorry I didn't read it when I got it. It was funny and steamy. I've got a new author for my RAB – Read as Bought - list. My only disappointment is The Road to Hell the next book in this series is not avaliable now. Hmmm is it November yet. LOL. I'll have to wait darn it.

The TBR Book Challenge is making me read more and add more books for me to go and get to read. I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.

A visit to Toys "R" Us

Today I went to Toys "R" Us I haven't been there in a while and with good reason. Every time I go I get in trouble. I buy things I shouldn't did I ever tell you I have a weakness for stuffed animals. Yeah I do have the weakness. UnO is another weakness of mine but I won't go into it since we are talking about my stuff animal weakness.

I had a lot of stuffed animals all over my house. I collected them. I had this cute dark read bull with black horns. A Bugs Bunny (another weakness. You notice I keep using pass tense. Yes I had last year I got rid of them. {biting fist to not cry}. I had so many and for so many years I just decided one day to get rid of them all. I did and it was painful. And since I promised I would not buy anymore for at least a year a visit to Toys "R" Us was painful. My sister had taken pity in me last year and bought me a cute stuffed doll (I like those to) in a pink sweat suit. I hadn't broken my word and got any more stuffed animals or dolls. Well I am proud to say I didn't buy any from Toys "R" Us.

Then again since the year is up in a week and I will be taking my nephew to Build a Bear around that time {shrug} maybe it wasn't such a hardship after all. {Wicked grin}

Weekly Wrap-up ~ Writing, release coming, annoyances, and other things

It’s Friday and I’m looking forward to a fun weekend. So what happened this week?

Working hard to finish up the story that has my mind racing and heart pounding. My spin on things is making the story take a lot of twist and turns. Still being mysterious about what my current project is. Want to have it done before I say too much.

The days are clocking down for my next release from EC Carnal Awakening is now on the first coming soon page at EC. My excitement is building. Carnal Awakening will be released on July 27, 2007. This is less than two weeks away.

I’m still annoyed about what happened in my Monday Adventure. And this week two other things happened that made me even more annoyed. Monday Adventure was personal but the two others were not only personal but also concerned my writing career. The funny thing they all including the Monday Adventure concerned lying, stealing and courtesy. The first in my writing career I won’t go into because I am just too angry to say anything. Not only angry but disappointed at someone’s ability to steal and lie so well. The other I am too angry to speak of it also but I will say this briefly in reference to both that I am too angry to speak of.

My mother (may she rest in peace) had a saying she always used to tell me when I asked why people lied, stole or was discourteous.

“What is for you is for you and nothing anyone does will diminish who you are.” She would tell me in that distinct voice of her’s.

Basically she meant that no matter what anyone would try to do, say or take from you if it was meant for you they will not be able to stop you or take it from you. No matter how others act your values, class and honesty will show through. So that is all I have to say.

Carnal Awakening, will be released on July 27, 2007 at Ellora's Cave. In this uncovered we will be exploring my heroine Shay Coles. As I stated in the previous uncovered Shay - my heroine - came to me and demanded her story be told. She also let me know her story could not be told as one story but would be a series of stories. Imagine if you will a woman who knows what she wants but is unsure how to ask for it.

Shay Coles is all of these things and more. She has withstood a betrayal and is first unsure of her own sensuality as a woman. The complexities in Shay’s personality are what made her such a joy to write. She pushed all the emotions and demanded more.

Once Shay came to me she knew where her story would go and it flowed. She breathed life into the pages. She took Mikhail A’do Nis, a man bound by his duty and quest, by storm. Shay runs the spectrum of emotions from insecurity to confidence or attraction to passion and everything in between.

Shay is on a journey to sensual awakening. A discovery of not only pleasure but what is in her soul. In Carnal Awakening, Shay gets a few surprises thrown at her and more to come in the next books.

Musings: Amazing Writer Race ~ Revisted

I'm revisiting a topic I had thoughts on a few years ago. It is amazing how appropriate it still is.

Okay I’ll admit it I like reality shows. There has been an influx of reality shows but in my humble opinion there are only a few that are worth watching, I won’t go into a list of them but one of my favorites is The Amazing Race. After watching the contestants year after year run around the world all vying to win a million dollars I am usually pleased with the outcome. Then I started thinking again how I was in a sort of Amazing Race myself. The Amazing Writer Race that is. I'm going to post once again my way of thinking of my own Amazing Race. Now don’t think like that. I know exactly what I am getting at.

Imagine for a moment what the Amazing Race really is. It isn’t only about the money (which is a million dollars) it’s about the experience on the race. Now lets me give you the break down on what are the similarities and differences between The Amazing Race and The Amazing Writer Race.

Starting

Amazing Race – before the race even hits TV a call goes out for entrants. Contestants have to sign up and I’m sure go through process before they are picked.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – Before you can become a writer and idea must form. That call to pick up the pen or peck on that keyboard to pound out a story.

Differences – A writer is the only one who judges if you are worthy to be in the race and what must be done.

Point A to B

Amazing Race – once in the race you have to get from point so and so to here or there with your wits, leg work and a little money

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – As a writer you use your wits, legwork, and money to get your writing out there.

Differences – The road to Point A to B changes as you do and the way there is not clear cut way. It is up to you to get there at your own will.

Places, Culture, and Customs

Amazing Race - Each leg of the race the contestants goes to a new place they have to make themselves familiar with the places, culture and various customs. They even participate in some of these.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – a writer has to do the same thing get in tune with the place, the scents, and people there.

Differences – the writer is the one who builds the world, the cultures and customs they follow. This gives you more leeway to make it yours.

People

Amazing Race - along the way you meet various people in these places you visit that.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – In your writing life you met and get to know so many people that you take away something from each.

Differences – You get to know the people longer and better and form lasting friendships.

Detours/Road Blocks

Amazing Race - along the way there are detours and challenges to be performed before a contestant can move on.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – In your writing life you have detours and challenges to met also.

Differences – The type of challenges and the amount of time you have to overcome each is set by you. How you go about it is also set by you.

Other Contestants

Amazing Race - you have others that are in the race vying to get that money.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – as a writer you also have other writer’s who is vying for that book deal.

Differences – The support and true friendships that you find with other writer who are going after the same thing.

Winning

Amazing Race - At the end of all of that there is one winner.

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – A writer definitely wants to be a winner.

Differences – However there is many winners in this race and some of them are your friends who also is in this race as an amazing writer.

Time Frame

Amazing Race - there is a set time frame to get things some

Amazing Writer Race:

Similarities – You set goals and times to be done with various things.

Differences – Your time frame as an author is as long as you want and the race doesn’t end until you let it.

So in this Amazing Writer Race according to your genre there is more romance, mystery, far off place or any number of things. They lead most times to a happy ending or resolution. Whereas in my case as an erotic writer there is an added bonus of not only getting to build my own worlds the way I like them. My characters get to have lots hot spicy sex and still find that happy ending.

When it comes down to it the major difference in the Amazing Writer Race is even after we have won the prize – a book contract – we still keep racing to get the next, then the next and next until infinity. So we are always racing. And after that book is out we enter a whole new phase of the race.

Years ago when I first mentioned my own Amazing Writer Race I mentioned I was striving for the prize – a book contract. Well I got many of them. And you know what as I said then and believe now I got that win and still have a lot more wins to go in my Amazing Writing Race.

Monday Adventure~ Is honesty and courtesy dead….

For my Monday’s Adventure it started in the movies.

After getting home from work I decided to go take in a movie. It wasn’t what I saw in the movie that was shocking. It was what happened when I went to the ladies room. After leaving the ladies room I realized I had left my cell behind. I rushed back to look for it and it was gone. I saw a lady standing there with another woman as they changed a young child on the changing table. I asked them if they had seen a cell. They said no but my suspicious nature didn’t buy it. First when I initially came in they were whispering then when they saw me the one changing the baby shut up. My sister was with me so I told her to call my cell. The two women quickly gathered their things and went outside I followed them. They sat outside the bathroom on a bench. Stupidly I had forgotten I had been a good and followed the rules and put my cell on vibrate while in the movie. I hadn’t put on the ringer yet. The women did not know that so that is probably why they did such a fast exit from the ladies room.

I told my nephew to keep an eye on them and my sister and I went back to inside the bathroom to look for my cell. We found nothing. When we came out the women were gone. I tried calling the cell again to see if we could at least hear it vibrate. As we called this other lady who was passing us bent down and pulled a phone from under the same bench the women had been sitting on. I told her it was my cell and what happened. She apologized that it had been taken, I thanked her then turned to my sister and left.

I was not only furious but disappointed that someone could so blatantly look you in the face and lie or steal. I played the incident over in my head and wondered if I had told the women to empty their bags when I suspected with them what would they have done. They probably would have refused and then I would have called security. At least when they found my cell on her I would have gotten to ask her why lie to my face and why steal. Since she had ditched the cell and left I got to do none of that.
As we left I mentioned to my sister that if I had found someone’s cell anywhere I would have turned it in. Or if the person came back looking for it I would have given it to them and said I was turning it in. Hell even if the woman hadn’t been planning to turn it in just by me looking for it then asking you about it you would think guilt would have made her lie and say she had it and was going to turn it in. My sister replied the woman was not us or thousands of others who would turn it in. This was not an epiphany for me. I know that there are liars and thieves in the world yet maybe it my naivety but I belive in honesty. I guess it was my own stupidity for believing that there is still common courtesy and honesty out there. What do I say to that?

This one incident will not make me believe that common courtesy and honesty is dead. Yes there are a lot of dishonest and discourteous people out there. But there are also a lot of courteous and honest people also. There is a balance in the world. Just like bad and good. Ying and yang. Does knowing all that make me less annoyed or disappointed at the woman who found my cell, pocketed it and lied she had seen it?

No. Yet the woman who found my cell after the other stealer lady had ditched it gave my cell back and even apologized that it had been taken. This Good Samaritan was a stranger yet felt compelled to apologize on someone she didn’t even know behalf. It is moments like that which humbles and makes me feel warm inside.

For my TBR book for this week's TBR Book Challenge I went with an author who I tried one of her books then went and bought her backlist. Yeah the whole thing. So when I got her backlist I started to read them then for some reason I never finished reading them. Her books have been sitting on my TBR books.

For my TBR Book I read Cry Wolf by Tami Hoag. My first book by Tami Hoag was Kill the Messenger and when I read it I was like how the heck did I miss this author. Then I went and bought her backlist. Well I enjoyed all the ones I have read so far. Cry Wolf is suspense and it had me wondering and wanting to know more.

Of course now I read the book I went to visit Tami Hoag’s site and saw she had a book come out recently in March 2007. I have to go and get it. The TBR Book Challenge is making me read more and add more books for me to go and get to read. I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.

Weekly Wrap-up ~ Release coming, Reviews and things

It’s Friday and boy am I happy. So what happened this week?

I’ve been writing and writing. I’m working on a story that has my mind racing and heart pounding. As you all know I like t put my spin on things. The story I am currently writing has a lot of twist and turns. Yep I am being mysterious but I don’t want to say too much until the story is done.

My next release from EC Carnal Awakening is on the coming soon page at EC. Yippee. Carnal Awakening will be released on July 27, 2007. This is less than a month. I can’t wait.

And if you read my Monday Adventure you’ll remember the airlines lost my sister’s luggage. Well I am happy to report they found her luggage. Yay. As for my lost luggage from my trip weeks ago. No sign of it yet. After my experience and then sister lost luggage I think there is a little gremlin somewhere who sees our name and does a gig while singing let’s take their luggage and make them annoyed. Yeah fanciful but so true. This is the only thing I can think of. {Grin}

Carnal Awakening, will be released on July 27, 2007 at Ellora's Cave. In this uncovered we will be talking about how the story Carnal Awakening came to be.This story came to me out of nowhere. I was actually working on another story when Shay - my heroine - came to me and demanded her story be told. She also let me know her story could not be told as one story but would be a series of stories. Imagine if you will a woman who knows what she wants but is unsure how to ask for it. I’ll be exploring Shay in another Uncovered later this month.

Once Shay came to me I let my mind wander. I knew that this story would have to have a lot of twists and turns. I worked out the plot and my mind raced then it came to me. There would be a special gift that leads to the awakening of these characters. A gift that is rare and beautiful. A gift that is used with grand romantic gestures. It says so much and yet not enough. But imagine if it had the ability to have a more active role in getting a couple together. A gift that would travel through realms to get where it needed to be to bring them together. Once they were together it is up to the couple where things lead.

As I built the gift and the world Shay and Mikhail inhabit I pushed the boundaries. Their world is one of passion, intrigue, and most of all an adventurous nature. Each has their own things they must face. Shay has to overcome her reservation, while Mikhail must realize duty and desire are both possible.

Carnal Awakening leads you on a path of not only a sensual awakening but also into the discovery of what is inside. There are a few other surprises thrown in and more to follow in the next books.

Come along for the exploration of Shay and Mikhail as they are awakened.

Musings: Fantasy ~ What is it really?

I am revisting something I thought of a while back. Fantasies. I posted this on the blog before and my feeling still are the same. So let's explore fantasy once again.

I looked up the meaning of fantasy and there were so many meanings and variations to this it was eye opening. I’m going to start with my least favorite then go on to my most favorite.

My least Favorite:

Fantasy~ An unrealistic or improbable supposition.

Now where do I even begin on this one? This is such a cold, analytical way tolook at fantasy. From time we are born we are taught to believe in many things that would from this meaning be considered “unrealistic” or “improbable”. The tooth fairy, Santa clause, Easter bunny, and sandman are but a few of the things we grew up with. It is a part of life that we believe at least until such things as this meaning makes us realize different. As a writer this meaning is totally out of my scope. I create living fantasy for readers and enjoy the hell out of doing it {grin}.

Now my most favorite is more like my way of thinking.

My most favorites:

Fantasy ~ Imagery that is more or less coherent, as in dreams and daydreams, yet unrestricted by reality.

Or

Fantasy~ An imagined event or sequence of mental images, such as a daydream, usually fulfilling a wish or psychological need.

All Hail the Fantasy brigade.

Ahhh. Now this is more like it. I create novels that are unrestrained by reality. Heck I build worlds that defy definition and enjoy each and every improbable part of it. I love fulfilling a wish. Wishes of a great story with lots of sex, fantasy and escape. Yes escape from the norm. I enjoy the forays of an alpha male hero type, kick butt heroine whether they be human, vampire, shapeshifter, witch or anything else. Becoming free of the restrictions of the imagination is what I strive to achieve. Take a risk. Become a daredevil. Love, fight and live with all those characters of fantasy. Isn’t this really what it is all about.

I tap into the fantasy I enjoy and bring it into reality at least for the time you read my stories and then after when it is remembered by you. Here is my definition of fantasy.

Taige definition of fantasy:

Escaping the constrains of reality and making a reality of your own. A reality where your deepest desires, needs, wants and all things your imagination can think of is real as long as you believe.

Novels are always an adventure and isn’t that why you read. To be drawn into a fantasy. At least for a time before real life issue take over. Fantasy is all about imagination and using it to escape. I enjoy bring a little escape to you.

Monday Adventure ~ A tale of the lost Luggage

For my Monday’s Adventure it started over the weekend. My sister flew in for her yearly visit and when I went to pock her up lo and behold they had lost her luggage. Now see I already have my own issues with my trip I took a few weeks ago. Yep you guessed it. They lost some of my luggage when I returned to NY. I was peeved to put it mildly. I'm normally a calm and rational person. And no they still have not found my luggage yet.

Well now back to the story of my sister. They lost her luggage. Not one bag or ever two. They lost all her three pieces of luggage. She and my nephew had come with. So all she had was the clothes on her back. In her carryon she only had the basics. After picking her up we had to make a trip to the store to get a few things for her and my nephew.

Well I kept calling to see where the luggage was. I kept getting not found. Well let’s fast forward to Monday. I called after I got home from work and was told the luggage was found. Now don’t get to excited. Here is the conversation with the baggage technician.

“Great news we have found your bags and they are on the way to Santa Barbara.” Baggage tech.

“What. Why did you send the bag to Santa Barbara when I am in NY.” Me trying to be calm.

“Yes it is going to Santa Barbara as it states on your request.” Baggage tech being snide.

“What address do you have listed on the form to delivery to?” Me trying not to call them a {insert any curse phrase you can imagine here} idiot.

“We have ----- New York.” Baggage tech trailing off.

“If the address I gave you is in NY why did you send the bags to Santa Barbara.” Me my voice getting colder as I spoke.

“Well the bags in Santa Barbara and we will send a message to have it returned to NY.” Baggage tech with no apology in their voice.

“What about my two other bags? You only mentioned one.” Me my voice still cold.

“Oh you already got one of your bags.” Baggage tech not knowing what that phrase would do to me.

“-------------------------------------- the bags I have none. ------------ You tell me ------------------- my bags--------------.” Me losing it after that response.

“Let me speak to your supervisor.” Me breathing fire and ready to kick some more ass.

“One moment please.” Baggage tech with no apology in their voice.

I won’t go into the conversation I had with the supervisor. Let’s just say they still have not found two of the bags. The other is sitting in Santa Barbara having it’s own nice little vacation. That was my adventure for today.

TBR Book ~ July 1, 2007

When I went to pick my book for the TBR Book Challange it was at first hard to decide. I went through my bookcase and computer as I checked over the books I had I wanted to read them all. Then a shock happened I found a book that is part of my RAB – Read as Bought. Usually these are books I start the day I buy them no matter what I am reading. I know last year was a crazy year but for this book to slip by me well all I can say is how did I miss it.

So for my TBR Book I read Conspiracy Game by Christine Feehan. I enjoy all of Christine Feehan’s series and she is one of my RAB – Read as Bought - authors. As I read Conspiracy Game I was drawn back into the world of the ghostwalker’s. There is so much intrigue, action and passion in this novel it left me breathless. I was so enthralled I stayed up all night to read this book in one sitting. I was dragging at work the next day. Christine Feehan’s books stays with you long after you finish reading and Conspiracy Game was no different.

After reading CG I realized I hadn’t been to Christine Feehan’s site in a while so I went and looked at her site. My visit made me realize I had also missed the next ghostwalker book. I went out and bought it. Deadly Game was hot, action packed and kick ass. I loved it.

This TBR Book Challenge has whetted my appetite to get to the other TBR Book I have. I can’t wait. I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.

Uncovered: Seducing a God ~ From conception to completion

In a recent blog I did for the group blog I am a part of I explored one of the questions that I usually asked.

How did you come up with that story idea?

With this being a question that was recently asked of me again I decided to take you under the covers for a look inside my novels. You’ll go behind the scenes, inside the mind of the characters, places and so on. So each Wednesday I will feature whatever is my book being released for that month. That will be four or five according to the calendar Wednesday’s of various Uncovered topics based on my novels. If I have no release for that month I will give you a random novel from my backlist or my WIP {work in progress}.

In my post at the group blog I answered the question above. I changed it a little from the original post.

So let’s get uncovered….

Seducing a God, is my first book with Ellora's Cave and I'm taking you into how the story Seducing a God came to be as well as a little about the hero and herione.

I’ll be honest I hadn’t ever thought of doing a theme story before and never imagined to try for one at EC. After making a tough decision concerning with the path my writing career was taking I was surfing the various publishers for something spicy to read. While at EC I decided to check out the submissions. As I sat there reading the call for submissions and came across the Naughty Nuptials theme my mind started to race and heart started to pound. I went to bed and my mind still raced and I could not sleep. The story was unfolding so fast in my head and I know I had to write it down. So I got up and fleshed out the story for what ended up to be Seducing a God.

My hero Markus M’ar Riage, The God of Matrimony came to me first. He epitomizes everything that love, relationships and marriage is all about. He is strong, gentle, and all out sexy. I knew he needed a woman who although seemingly shy she would knock his socks off.

My heroine, Paula Stroker made her presence know from the beginning. Although she is slightly unsure around me she knows when she sees Markus she wants him. Also she has a unique profession. {You’ll have to read the book to find out}. Paula is a smart; take charge yet vulnerable and sensual woman.

These two characters compliment each other. Yet they face an obstacle Paula has an aversion to marriage and Markus being the God of Matrimony cannot help but believe in all it entails. They led you on a wild ride of sensual pleasure and discovery. Also there are a few other surprises thrown in.

So take a seductive journey with Paula and Markus and let yourself be seduced.

Monday Adventure

The weekend flew by and before I knew it Monday was here. Now Monday is gone to. The days seem to be going by so fast. Where did the beginning of 2007 go? It’s the end of June already and before we know it the end of the year will be here.

So what was my adventure today? Well for me another Monday equals the day job. There is never a dull moment and I mean even before I reach my job. See I ride the NY subway and to appreciate that you need to come to NY and ride the subway. It is always and adventure to get to work. This adventure was a man singing at the top of his lungs all sort of things. We’ll you see I wouldn’t have had any problem with that but he could not sing at all.

He got on midway to my stop and we were entertained excruciatingly with his lack of carrying a note. I think he was tone deaf. See people assume New Yorker’s are rude but can you believe none of us got up and told him to sit the hell down he couldn’t sing. Some people moved to other train cars it was like a great exodus of people. Other’s turned up there music on their I-Pod and other music players then ignored him.

Well me I refused to lose my seat. Heck if you get a seat on the subway at rush hour you’d be crazy to give it up. I didn’t have a music player (note to self get an I-POD real soon). So since I was not about to move and had no music to drown him out I debated my options. It came to me quickly. Looking the man dead in his eye I smiled sweetly and beckoned him over. When he came to me I told him that the woman who just left loved his singing. His eyes lit up and off he went to another car. {Grin} As the door closed behind him all I could think was blissful silence. The woman next to me who had heard what I said started to laugh uncontrollably. I grinned at her then went back to doing what I wanted to do on my train ride read my book for the TBR Book Challenge.

Whenever the train doors opened I could hear the man still singing. Did I feel guilty for sending him on his way? Hmmm…. I’ll have to think about that one some …

TBR Book Challenge

I was looking at my TBR - to be read – books the other day both in e-books and print. It is huge so I issued myself a challenge that I would read one book a week from the TBR books. I also figured I am not the only one who has TBR books so here is a challenge to you.

TBR Book Challenge:

Bagel Fight

Before I get to the fight let me set the stage. I have been a really good woman. Eating better and seeing the benefits of it by losing weight. Heck even on my vacation I was good and watched what I ate. Oh yeah for those who have asked to see pics I will be posting pic’s next week after I decides which are not so incriminating to post. I said I was a good at eating but didn’t mention anything else {wink} I had a really good time. LOL. Anyway I digress back to the bagel fight.

I’m usually not a bagel person, I prefer muffins nope haven’t been eating those either. We’ll today I decided to have a bagel for a change. I haven’t had one in over a year. Once my mind was made up I wanted that bagel. So I went to the cafeteria in my job and got one then waited my turn to put my bagel to toast on these really antiquated machines we have. It’s like a mini toaster with a conveyer belt. So I stepped up to put in my bagel and then stepped back to make space for the other person. I bumped this other woman who was next murmured excuse me and moved so she could put in hers. As the toaster conveyer moved the things toasting. It was really slow. I had counted which in line mine should come out. As mine was ready I stepped up for it.

The woman who I had bumped earlier stepped up and said if you’re waiting for that bagel it is mine. That one is your’s. She pointed to a burnt bagel that had been sitting there when I out in my bagel. It was not the type of bagel I had put in. It was wheat and mine was a garlic bagel. Now I know you are wondering if I beat her over the bagel but see I am a pussycat and real even tempered {cough liar, cough liar). Okay, okay. I am usually even tempered and rarely lose my temper for reasons are too long to get into. You really have to push one of my temper buttons and if you do look out.

So this woman stepped in and took my bagel and as I watched it walk away I was tempted really tempted to go take it back. But I resisted and stood there a minute wondering if the universe was trying to keep me from having a bagel. Instead of thinking on it to hard I went and got another one. And you know what this one tasted better because I resisted fighting over a bagel which is what the woman seemed to want she was really rude about it. So it wasn’t exactly a fight but close.

I’m here munching on my bagel and thinking if it had been a muffin which I hadn’t had for a year also what would I have done….

We’ll it’s a good thing it wasn’t that all I’m going to say…

In from the cold .... ~ New Contract's

I know I have seemed to disappear these last few month’s and now I can tell you why. There is so much going on.

I am proud and happy to announce I have found new publishing homes for my books.

The first publisher I will be releasing my novels with is Ellora’s Cave. I have contracted six books with them so far. And for those of you who have been following the Immortal Blossom and Rarities Incorporated Series they will now be released by Ellora’s Cave. The first book of the Immortal Blossom series has been renamed to Carnal Awakening and it has been expanded. You don’t want to miss this book when it is released as well as the other books in the series. There will be more Rarities Incorporated books as well as the previously released book. My previously released Rarities Incorporated novel title has been changed to Veils Rising. Check my website for details on these series as well as my other new series coming with Ellora’s Cave.

The second publisher that I will be releasing my novels with is Liquid Silver Books. The book for this publisher will be another whole new series. Check my website for details on this series.

Also look out for more details on my website in the upcoming weeks on other books I have coming.

I don’t have release dates yet for my contracted books but will let you know when I do. If you want to be kept advised whenever I have a new release or contracts you can also sign up for Crenshaw Times ~ my News/Updates Group. Stronger than Yesterday

My mother (may she rest in peace) had a saying she always used to tell me when I asked why has such or such happened, if I had a tough choice to make, or I’d made a choice and wondered if it was the right one. “Everything happens for a reason Taige.” She would tell me in that distinct voice of her’s. When I was younger my impatience would get the better of me and I used to say I want to know what the reason is now. LOL.

As I grew older I saw the wisdom of what she said. In these lasts few weeks I have been shaken up out of my complacency and stepped outside my comfort zone. As a writer being happy with just the status quo is a dangerous thing. You should be versatile and willing to change. I came to some hard truths. I couldn’t believe I had let myself become that way. I like to challenge myself push the boundaries I set for myself and go even further than those boundaries. Hell I do that whenever I write a word on a page why would I settle for less in any other way. I was shocked that I had then I set out to fix it. I took time to sit down and think of where I was and where I want to go. Then planned for it and went after where I want to be.

With what I am doing I know that status quo is no longer acceptable for me. I’m going back to the old Taige and push the boundaries, Hell I plan to smash them into little bits then burn them.

So with that being said I can say today. I am much stronger than yesterday.

Baby it's cold outside... ~ Update

I'm sure you're aware of the confusion that was going on at OMP. I have decided to pull my books Rarities Inc.: All I Want….. - and Immortal Blossom: Awakening from them. Currently I am looking for a new publisher for my works.

I will let you know what is going on. I have a few new books complete and will be also sending those out. I'm working on some other new books. So stay tuned for some fabulous reads.

Rarities Inc: All I Want… is a sensual paranormal delight. The plot is rather involved and definitely keeps readers interested as Dilana unravels the myth of the Veils. There are a few aspects of the plot that were less developed and hence slightly confusing for the reader. However, the author’s use of bold characters propels the plot through these sections. The immediate awareness between Dilana and Magni is hot and continues to build throughout the story. Their love scenes are evocative and display not only a wonderful wanton chemistry, but also a tender melding of emotion. These are two evenly matched individuals and I enjoyed seeing them discover the depth of their connection. I hope this isn’t the last story about Rarities Inc.

Baby it's cold outside...

Although we are having cold temperatures in NY I’m not talking about the weather. A few days ago my publisher Ocean's Mist Press announced they will be closing their doors at the end of the month. What does this mean for me? I'm looking for a new publisher for my novels. Until I find a new home I will couuntine on and do what I do best, write.

Until the Ocean Mist Press site closes and if you haven’t already go on by and get your copy of Immortal Blossom: Awakening and Rarities Inc: All I Want….
As for the two valentine’s stories (yes you heard me correctly) it is to late to submit it to other publishers for Valentine’s Day. Oh well…. I'll keep you updated on what is going on with my career.

This book was totally unexpected for me. I was not sure exactly what type of genre it was, but I loved it. It has a bit of fairy tale characters, timeless legends, and a modern feel. This is a very fast paced tale with lots of action and adventure, not to mention many intriguing secondary roles. I would love to see what happens with another of the Rarities Inc. partners or with the family of Magni, it is that fun and exciting. I must not forget that it also has enough sizzling romance in it to make anyone want to pick it up and literally swoon..
