Snippet Saturday - Humorous
Today’s snippet theme is Humorous. This is a look at my upcoming release Wilde Seduction, which will be released on August 31, 2009 by Total E Bound. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Wilde Seduction…
“But—” Mia growled at the sound of the dial tone.
She took the phone and started to push another number. A crackling sound stopped her. Turning around, Mia’s eyes widened. The stone statue on the ledge rippled, then burst open. Long wings spread high and flapped in the wind. They folded down and melded into a sleek back. Mia took a step back and gasped.
“Oh my,” she whispered.
Captivated, she took in the movement of his hard body. A perfect sun-kissed bare male ass flexed as he stretched his hands over his head. He shrugged bare shoulders in a fluid motion, and long fingers curled and released. Long, inky black hair flowed around him, blowing in the wind. The man turned and looked at her. His cerulean blue gaze seemed to glow. Mia’s eyes dropped, and she stifled a sigh to see he was now clothed.
The man jumped off the ledge onto the roof in an agile, effortless movement. He strode toward her with gracefulness and purpose in each step. As he came closer, she got a look at his flawless face. It was all carved planes and angles, as if put together by a master artisan. It was seductive and compelling. His full mouth curved was in a sexy grin that made her ache to take a nibble, and then suck his lips gently into hers. His blue eyes were even more captivating close up, surrounded by thick, curling lashes and heavy eyebrows. A shudder of longing raced through her. Mia licked her lips. His eyes followed the movement. His smile widened.
Mia blinked as the realisation of what she had just seen filled her.
He just came out of stone. No way are gargoyles real. Her eyes narrowed, and she grinned.
The man stopped just before he reached her.
“Who put you up to this? Reggie? Yeah, it had to be her. She knows I loved the Gargoyles cartoon when it was on. Goliath was my favourite—that voice and his personality.” She shuddered lightly, then continued, “Great trick with the wings. Where did you ditch them? You didn’t have to get dressed on my account.”
The man looked at her. Suddenly, there was a loud whoosh, then wings spread behind him. His shirt disappeared and his sculpted muscular chest glistened in the sun. Mia stepped back again and gasped. Laughing at herself for her reaction, she took a step towards him. He smiled at her and beckoned her closer. Mia took another and another step. The man gestured behind him, then turned his back to her. Taking his unspoken invitation, Mia stepped close enough to see and touch. Hesitantly, she looked, then gulped. The wings seemed to be coming out of his skin. Almost afraid to know, she reached out and ran her hand down between his wings, then along where they joined his back. Feeling only skin and cartilage, Mia gasped and stepped back.
The man turned and captured her arm before she could move away. She looked at him. He pulled her close to his heated body. His wings folded down and away. A shirt reappeared, covering his chest.
“Do not be afraid, miele,” the man rumbled.
Mia stilled a shudder. He sounded just like Goliath from the Gargoyles animated show. If she hadn’t touched his back and knew that his wings were real, she would have still believed that Reggie or one of her other partners was playing a trick on her. He was very real, and a gargoyle to boot. She didn’t know how she felt, but afraid wasn’t even close. Turned on and confused were just a few of the things she was experiencing.
“Please. I’ve dealt with irate clients who are more frightening than you. I’m not afraid. Intrigued more than anything else. So, you’re a gargoyle.”
“That’s the human term for it. The right term is Garlven.”
“Garlven,” she repeated.
“Yes. Good pronunciation.” The man smiled, obviously pleased.
“So, should I even ask why you’re hanging around a rooftop in Milan on the Wilde Hotel, or do you usually touch strange women?” Mia grinned.
“Just relaxing. And no, not usually.” The man laughed and released her hand, stepping back.
“You were listening to my conversation, huh? It’s not nice to eavesdrop.” Mia narrowed her eyes.
“I never said I was nice.” The man grinned wolfishly.
Mia laughed, and he joined her.
“You’re being very calm about this,” he pointed out.
“I figure I’m sleeping and having a really good dream, or I’ve lost my mind.” Mia shrugged.
The man laughed again, a rich sound. Mia grinned, flexed the hand holding her phone, and put the phone in her pocket. She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
“I’m going with it being a dream, and I’m enjoying it. So, you sound American, yet you’re on a rooftop in Milan. Are you on vacation too, um... what’s your name?”
“Ah…forgive me. Yes, I am American, and this is one of many rooftops I, my family, and business associates own. I’m actually working, I’m sorry to say, and not vacationing. I’m Remy Wilde, a Garlven from the Quilez clan, at your service.” He bowed regally.
“Mia Turner, of the human race and from the Turner family. Nice to meet you, Remy, a Garlven from the Quilez clan and owner in this hotel.” Mia chuckled. “A very nice hotel. “

Drawn in by a box
This summer I have been and am spending a lot of time off-line. Taking a summer break and spending time with my family. At first it was hard staying away from my computer but as time went by it has gotten better. Heck even the days I go on comp I don’t spend as much time on it. It has been a house full of family. We laugh, chat and have a blast. Also I have been spending time with a box that has drawn me in. No I'm not kidding I've been drawn in by a box. LOL.
I've also used my break to organize my paper files. I'm usually good at keeping thing organized and figured I wouldn't have that much to do. It was going well when I discovered a box of papers I didn't remember seeing before. When I opened the box I was shocked to discover notebooks filled with writings. I tend to write out concepts for stories in notebooks for future use. In the box was a treasure trove. It had some of the first drafts of a few of my already published books. Scenes, characters and so that didn't make it into the final draft of the stories were in the notebooks. I even found some stories that I had started in the notebook but never completed.
As I sat going through the box I was drawn into stories I had written so long ago. My mind raced with characters, places and worlds. I spent hours browsing and enjoying. After I finished reading I finally got around to completing my organizing. I took out the notebooks of the uncompleted stories from the box. Then I put in some more notebooks with my completed books. I made sure to label the box so I know what it is. The notebooks with uncompleted stories are sitting on top of my file cabinet so I can work on them. Organizing has led me to finding stories that I didn't realized I had.
It all started with a summer break which led me to a box. A box that drew me in. Who would ever imagine a box would have such treasures. This break for summer has reaped me much benefits. Time for myself and with family. And now stories to create. All in all this summer has brought me a much needed escape.

Snippet Saturday - Settings
Today’s snippet theme is Settings. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Carnal Awakening…
Glancing at the flower she saw it fold into itself then open again as if shooing her to him. Glancing back at him she cocked her head to the side and watched him.
“I don’t want to.”
He frowned then started to mutter too low for her to hear. As if reaching a decision he turned to face her, his face went blank and his eyes cold. “You don’t have a choice.”
At the challenge in his voice her blood heated. She liked nothing better than a challenge. Watching him under her lashes she waited for his next words.
“It is my duty to save you from yourself,” he stated as he held out his hand.
At the cold touch of metal she looked down, surprised to see the gold handcuffs on her wrists. Looking back at him she jumped. He was standing directly in front of her. She hadn’t even heard him move. Grabbing her arm in a firm grip he pulled her into him. Looking up into his face Shay raised herself on tiptoes and licked across his lips. He groaned. Using the opportunity, Shay stroked her tongue into his mouth. Lazily she savored him and he tasted as she expected—raw and male. His tongue dueled with hers playfully then he sucked her deeper into his mouth. Whimpering she leaned in closer.
Suddenly he wrenched his lips away with a mutter. “I am honor bound to protect you even from yourself.”
His eyes blazed and a green mist started to swirl around him. It encircled her and suddenly the floor disappeared from beneath her feet. Before she could even think about screaming the mist cleared and her feet hit ground. With a fleeting glance around at the lush plants in every color of the rainbow and the sounds of various animals calling out to each other Shay smiled. It was perfect.
Looking back at Mikhail standing a few feet ahead with his back to her, Shay could see the rigid way he held himself. He turned to face her and stated in a soft tone. “We have been taken off course Shay by the will of the Immortal Blossom. I need you to think clearly and control yourself, for both of our sakes.”
She didn’t know what he was talking about. Her mind was clear and she knew exactly what she needed to do. Holding her cuffed hands in front of her, she whispered, “Sericanas”.
His eyes widened as the cuffs started to heat on her wrist then disappeared. His arms jerked in front of him and the cuffs reappeared on his wrists. Seeing them Shay smiled then took off in a run straight for him.
Mikhail took a step back then stopped. The cool determined look in his eyes made her stop a few steps before she reached him. He licked his lips in a slow and deliberate manner. Following his movements Shay felt a ripple of heat go down her spine. From a distant part of her mind she knew she was in an elaborate fantasy but she didn’t care. She wanted this and nothing would stop her from having him.

A Summer Break
For the most of summer I've been spending a lot of time off-line. Taking a summer break for me and to spend time with my family. At first it was hard. I'm used to going on my computer everyday. It is one of the first things I do when I get home from the day job. It is so instinctive that as I walk in my door I head straight for my office to boot up the comp. The first few days my finger was on the button ready to push it to boot up the comp when I stopped myself realizing that I wasn't going on the comp. I have gotten much better at not going on the comp everyday. And even the days I go on comp I don't spend as much time on it.
So now instead when I get home I bypass the office and relax with my family who is visiting from out of state. My cousin who lives close to me come by with the kids and it is a full house of family. We laugh, chat and have a blast. Since we enjoy various TV shows it is fun discussing them or debating according to the show. We get loud and defend out positions. LOL. We've also been spending time exploring some sights, shopping and dining out.
I'm also getting some reading done. My big sis and I are avid readers and have similar tastes in books. Someday's we sit in the living room reading a book while the TV drones in the background. If something in a book grabs us we tell each other about it. When we are done we switch books. After we finish each others book we then talk about it. The debates on what we liked or didn't in the book gets heated. The other day my nephew came running to see what the arguing was all about. I calmly told him his mother was 'crazy'. He looked at both of us and said right back that we both were. My sis and I looked at each other then back at him and replied in unison 'so are you'. He sighed loudly, rolled his eyes and countered he prefers to call it eccentric. We all cracked up. Ever since we are saying we are eccentric. Hanging with fam is so much fun.
The break for summer has been a much needed escape.

Snippet Saturday - First Physical Touch
Today’s snippet theme is First Physical Touch. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Burning Touch…
Fire raced down his spine, making him shiver.
Kariati looked over his shoulder.
His breath left him in a rush. He turned away from the door, captivated by the dancing woman. She was lush full figured temptation. Hungrily he took in her bountiful breasts, voluptuous curves and shapely legs. She turned away from him on her high-heeled, caramel-coloured boots. Kariati raised his hand to his mouth and bit his knuckle to stifle a whimper. His mouth watered with the need to lick across her plump rounded ass.
He took a step towards her. The woman turned to face him. She stopped and stared. Closing the distance between them Kariati reached for her with his senses. Shocked, he watched the woman, a human woman, who had captured all his senses. Reaching her, he memorised her delectable honey-toned face, her satiny forehead, rich chocolate brown eyes with sexy lashes, sculptured cheeks, luscious lips, and round chin. The combination was an enticement he was powerless to resist. Leaning into the woman, he inhaled. Her sweet, musky arousal filled his senses. Silent, he pulled her to him. The woman came to him. Swivelling his hips, he felt her body against his. A harsh breath escaped the sensual vixen who had captured him in her thrall. Countering his movement, he held her hips. The woman followed his motions moving against his rapidly hardening erection.
He raised a hand and lifted her long braided dark reddish brown hair from her shoulder. Still moving in time with the music, Kariati lifted the edge of her braid to his cheek and stroked it along his face. He purred at the silkiness against his skin. The woman moaned softly. He put one hand behind her back, pulling her closer to him and smiled.
Halle took a breath. His heady masculine scent cloyed around her, invading her senses. When she had seen the man by the door watching her, she’d been ensnared by his powerful presence. Even from across the room, she had felt his eyes on her almost like a physical touch. He strode towards her with a confident arrogance she had found intoxicating. Each step was like a sexual movement that made her pussy pulse with wetness, preparing for his taking. The closer he came the more she wanted to be in his arms. It wasn’t until he was closer that she saw his face. She’d locked her knees to keep from falling. His sun-kissed skin made her tongue ache to lick every part she could. His thick curly lashes framed his intense blue-green gaze. The hunger in his eyes had almost brought her to her knees. Harsh planes of desire had carved his perfectly put together features—broad forehead, chiselled cheeks, lush lips and slightly pointed chin—into a savage look.
When he had partially closed his eyes and inhaled, she had gone weak. His forceful grip had kept her standing. Her pussy creamed even more at the brush of his hands on her ass. Halle had been powerless to do anything but move in time with the wanton sway of his hips. The length of his cock had rubbed against her slacks, burning a trail of heat. Cuddling into his hard masculine body she noted how they fit together. At her height of six feet it was hard to find a man who was so much taller than her. It created a feeling of fragile feminine awareness she had never experienced before. He had taken her braid and stroked it against his face. She moaned at the purr that rumbled out of his massive chest. His hot hand cupped her back, holding her close.
Reaching up, she grabbed his inky black hair. Whatever held it gave way and his hair covered her fingers. Staring into his eyes she stood on tiptoe and sealed her lips to his. The man’s decadent chuckle filled her mouth.
So soft. His lips are so soft. Murmuring she leaned into him.

Snippet Saturday - Villain Scene (bad guy shining moment)
Today’s snippet theme is Villain Scene (bad guy shining moment). Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Shadow Dance…
Solaris looked at her and his eyes sparked fire then he raised his hand and fire flowed toward her. Raising her hand to defend herself, Yadira found herself looking at a back. The fire circled around the person standing before her then disappeared. The woman turned and looked over her shoulder. Her eyes glowed flames then they faded to a golden brown. There was regalness in her bearing. She was clothed in a bra crusted in jewels and a skirt that flowed to the ground with slits all the way down each leg. It was held around the woman’s waist with a heavy belt depicting the sun. Yadira felt fear tingle along her skin.
The woman’s onyx skin glowed soft amber while her burnished golden hair whipped around her. She smiled gently and Yadira knew she was the one who had helped her.
“You have been messing with me since that first day,” Yadira said.
The woman nodded then whispered in a voice like silken sheets, “Yes. I am sorry but being so close to power has awakened me out of The Eye of Ra.”
“Sekhmet,” Dimitri’s tortured whisper reached her, confirming what she suspected.
Yadira saw the pain and joy in his face. Sekhmet reached out for him and he enfolded her into his arms. She was almost as tall as he was. They trembled together. Yadira could see the tears raining down his face as he held Sekhmet in his arms.
Dimitri pulled back looking at Sekhmet. “We thought you were dead. Kianga, they said you were dead.”
Sekhmet looked at him sorrow on her face. “Ahhh, Dimitri I have not heard that name in so long. It is appropriate that the Kianga name lives and lets the Sekhmet name die. I have missed you my brother.”
They embraced again. Dimitri stroked her hair.
“What happened to you?” Dimitri demanded.
Sekhmet looked over at Solaris. “Father contained me in The Eye of Ra.”
Dimitri looked at Solaris and stepped toward him. Sekhmet stopped him gripping his arm.
“No Dimitri. It was the right thing to do. I would have destroyed the world if he hadn’t.” Sekhmet looked at him sadness and regret on her face.
A cold wind blew into the cave whirling the dirt all around. Yadira shielded her gaze then looked at Dimitri who was standing before Sekhmet. He moved and she realized it wasn’t him, but Dominic. Dimitri stood still next to Sekhmet.“Sekhmet.” Dominic said, pain raw in his voice.
He dropped to his knees and rested his head against her bare stomach. The sound of his weeping filled the chamber. He trembled and shook with the force of it. Dimitri rested his hand on Dominic’s head while his arm encircled Sekhmet. Sekhmet looked down at him shock and pain lighting her face.
“Oh Dominic what has happened to you.” She leaned down pulling him closer to her.
He wrapped his arms more tightly around her and continued to weep. Looking up from him she looked at Solaris. “What have you done?”
Solaris looked at her. “Nothing. You must return to me Sekhmet for the sake of humanity.”
Sekhmet looked at him. “You will not contain me in The Eye of Ra again.”
Solaris looked at her pain and sorrow in his gaze. “I must.” Raising his hand he shot bluish fire at her.
Pushing away from Dimitri and Dominic she stepped forward to meet it. It curled around her, swirled, then flowed to her mouth. She opened her full lips and sucked it in. Yadira started as a pop filled the air then the flames were gone.
Solaris looked at Sekhmet. “Ahhh daughter, I do not want to destroy you.”
Sekhmet raised her chin. “You will not have to. I will return home with you and fulfill any punishment you deem sufficient.”
Solaris nodded.
“Sekhmet,” Dominic cried.
Sekhmet turned to him and touched his cheek. “No Dominic. It is the right thing to do. I am sorry for all the pain I have made you suffer.” Tears rained down her cheeks and she turned to walk to Solaris.
Yadira walked over to Dimitri. Dominic stood watching Sekhmet go to their father. Touching Dimitri’s back then Dominic’s she could feel their pain. A flash hit her and she saw why Dominic was in such pain. In the height of her power Sekhmet hadn’t known what she was doing and Dominic had gone to plead with her to stop. In her rage Sekhmet had had shown Dominic all the atrocities of the human race and her pain. The horrors of it had scarred his soul. What he had seen had haunted him. The pain and rage that filled Sekhmet was eating at her soul. When she had disappeared he had thought she was dead and had mourned that he had been unable to help her. Now to have her back again yet leaving him and out of their reach… It was too much.
Dominic looked at her and nodded.
Yadira stepped forward. “Sekhmet I offer you redemption from your past sins.”
Sekhmet looked at her.
Yadira stepped closer. “I offer you sanctuary.”
Sekhmet looked at the tears in her eyes. “I cannot accept your offer Yadira. I have done too much.”
“We all deserve a second chance. What we do with it is what defines us.”
Sekhmet looked at her then back at her father.
Solaris touched her cheek. “Go my daughter and make right what you have done. Pardon my ignorance. I should have realized containing you was not the answer. Go and make restitution.” He leaned in and kissed her cheek then pushed her toward Yadira.
“I love you father.”
Solaris replied. “Urious bnlis Kile.”
Sekhmet walked back to them. “What shall you have of me Yadira Akridge?”
Yadira looked at her and was unsure what to say.
“You’ll come and work for Rarities Incorporated,” Zarya’s smoky voice answered as she shimmered in next to Solaris.
Solaris looked at her and sighed. “I thought I sent you home.”
Zarya gave him a look. “Like I listen to you.”
“ Someday you will.”
“In your dreams,” Zarya answered, striding toward them. “Sekhmet, it is good to see you.”
Sekhmet nodded her head. “I rather be called Kianga from now on.”
“As you wish. Dominic take your sister back to New York to Rarities Incorporated. Kali will check her out and a house will be waiting for her use.” Zarya looked at Solaris. “Her father will supply her with money and the other things she needs.” It wasn’t a question but an order.
Solaris nodded his head.
