Snippet Saturday - Games

blog-header-option2

Today’s snippet theme is Livin it up (characters at work or play). Enjoy a look from one of my books.

An snippet from Body Cravings

bodycravings1Jacques pulled back and put his forehead against hers. “Want to play hooky?” He said it in a singsong voice.

“Let me get my bag,” Amara replied in the same tone.

She got her bag and coat. Jacques helped her into it. He pulled her hair from below the collar, trailing his finger from the edge of her hairline down until the coat stopped him.

Moaning, Amara asked, “What did my sister say to you?” Amara groaned as he kissed the top of her head. She viewed him expectantly.

“She threatened to unman me if I hurt you.” Jacques chuckled.

Amara glanced at the door, then back at him. “What’s funny about that?”

Jacques made a rude noise. “The idea she could do such a thing.”

Amara reached down and put her hand inside his jacket, stroking his cock through his slacks. Jacques’ eyes heated. She leaned against him and kissed him thoroughly.

Pulling away, she raised an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t underestimate my sister if I were you. But you don’t have to worry about her.” She released him and walked away.

“Why?”

Amara looked at him over her shoulder. “If you hurt me, the pleasure of unmanning you will be all mine.”

Jacques mouth fell open in shock before amusement filled his gaze. He walked over to her and put his hand around her waist. “You don’t have to worry about that. I won’t hurt you.” He kissed her briefly before leading her out the door.

Fifteen minutes later, Amara stood in front of the store at 18 Lauioe Square and studied the display. She glared playfully at Jacques. “I can’t believe I let you talk me into this. I’ve lived in this area, been in this area many times and never seen this place. How the heck did you find out about it?”

“A friend.” Jacques pulled her toward the door.

Standing her ground, she asked. “What friend?” Amara winced as she heard the jealousy in her tone.

Jacques was amused. He kissed her on the nose. “No need to be jealous.” He pulled her into him and kissed her thoroughly before drawing back to met her gaze. “Although I like you being possessive, it was a male friend. He said they had some beautiful pieces.”

Amara glanced past him at the window again. The female mannequin was draped in a see-through, short magenta camisole and tap pants. There was fine gold embroidery detailing on the outfit, making it shimmer and tantalize. It aptly went with Tantalize, the name of the store that was in discreet gold script. Usually she bought her lingerie from Unveiled—a bigger store that had some beautiful things as well—as it wasn’t too far from where her offices were on Caspain Avenue. Unveiled had various in-house designers who made what they sold. You could get custom pieces or buy off the rack.

She focused back on him. “I’ve heard of them and always meant to check them out but never found the time. If I’d known they were so close to my house I would have been here sooner.” Amara rubbed her hands together as she stared back at the window of Tantalize. “What are you waiting for? Let’s go.”

She laced fingers with his, pulling him into the store. Amara stopped inside the doorway, taking in the plush chairs and wide array of lingerie. From what she had heard of Tantalize, they had an in-house designer who made everything. All the pieces were unique and the quality was superb. With brisk steps, she walked over to a floor-length peignoir. Amara touched the fine silk. She loved sexy things.

Jacques’ voice came from behind her. “You would be sexy in that.”

She smiled seductively. “So would you.”

Jacques laughed. Amara picked it up in burnt orange and continued to look around. Jacques took it and, as she picked up more things, she handed them to him. He followed behind her patiently. When she asked him his opinion, he nodded or shook his head.

Amara reached for another piece, turning to hand it to him. When she saw the pile of things in his hands, she grinned sheepishly. “Umm … sorry.”

Jacques laughed. “I love to see you shop. Don’t you want anything else?”

Amara stared longingly at the two-piece pajama set across the room. She shook her head. “No. Let’s check out and go.” She put her hand around his waist, walking with him to the front of the store. “Thanks for being so patient.”

Jacques gazed at her, his expression sizzling. “My pleasure.”

Amara laughed. “Most men would have run screaming by now.”

Jacques dumped the items on the counter. He put his hands around her waist. “I’m not most men.”

He kissed her softly. Amara shifted and glanced at the man behind the counter.

Reaching into her bag for her purse, she was stopped by Jacques’ hand on her arm. She looked up at him. He was handing the man a credit card.

“Jacques—” she started to protest, but he put his finger over her lips.

“Shh… I’m paying. Now say, thank you, Jacques.”

She glared at him. He leaned down and she snapped her teeth at him. He jerked back, laughing. His other arm came up to encircle her. “Now is that any way to say thank you?”

Amara chuckled. “I’ll thank you later.”

Snippet Saturday – Magical

blog-header-option2

Today’s snippet theme is Magical. Enjoy a look from one of my books.

An snippet from Power of Attraction

He came at her with gracefulness and purpose in each step. His sun-kissed face was carved planes and angles put together by a master artisan. It enthralled and compelled. The fullness of his mouth made her mouth ache to take a nibble, then suck his lips gently into hers. As he got closer, Peyton was arrested by his ice blue gaze, which was surrounded by curling lashes. A shudder of longing raced through her. Peyton licked her lips. His eyes followed the movement. A decadent smile curved his lips.

He reached her and pulled her against his heated body. A moan spilled from her lips. A sensual laugh rumbled from him. His arms banded around her. Peyton looked up at his face. The hunger in his gaze made the breath in her lungs stall. He lowered his head. His lips covered hers as if she were his. She melted into his body and let him take her. He nipped her lips gently. At her gasp, he took advantage and delved his tongue inside of her mouth. With a firm stroke, he licked along the side of her tongue then hummed. Her nipples pebbled, while wetness drenched her aching slit.

A weakness filled her, making her knees buckle. His arms held her up for his taking. With another flick of his tongue, he licked along the roof of her mouth. Fire raced along its path, then down her throat and straight to her clit. Wild moans bubbled from her. He swallowed them as he continued to master her with his kiss. Peyton tried to think clearly, but only thoughts of wanton need filled her. His hands lifted her. Instinctively, Peyton wrapped her legs around his waist. A whimper broke through her moans at the sensation of his hardened shaft pressing against her skirt-clad mound. Distantly, she felt his hands scorching a path along her right leg, and in its wake, cool air touched her skin.

She locked her legs tighter around him, grinding against his cock, trying to get some relief for the ache she needed filled. He shifted. Peyton moaned as his heated shaft rubbed along her silk-clad pussy. With a glide of her hips, she rubbed against him. He growled deep in his throat and bit her. Peyton gasped and reality intruded.

She stiffened in shock and tried to get away. The man trapped her arms and increased the pressure of his kiss. Her mind went fuzzy with desire. His tongue plunged in and out of her mouth, mimicking thrusts. Her pussy flooded even more. The man chuckled in her mouth. It made her slit clench in reaction. At that, Peyton came to her senses. She wrenched her lips away from his. Wide eyed, she looked at the man who held her effortlessly against him. His ice blue gaze was hungry and slumberous. He lowered his head.

“Yioules,” Peyton whispered huskily.

Power of Attraction
Book one in the Blackstone Haven series.

A man will come to you in the darkest moon. The trees will shade and protect your union of the soul. Before the final step to merge your body is taken, a choice must be made.

Peyton Blackstone, a natural born witch, knew from the prophecy that accompanied her birth that a man would come to her. Yet, when the man who is set to be her’s arrives, Peyton isn’t ready for him or the ramifications his coming will cause. This man who deals with reality has a few secrets of his own--secrets that could very well destroy them both.

Wesley McCarty believes the woman he meets under the moonlight is not real. Suffering from unexplained blackouts, he believes he is losing his mind. When he sees her again, he realizes not only is his fantasy woman real, but she is within his reach. He must have her, no matter the cost. Nothing will stop him. Not his blackouts, or any legacies or prophecies. He will have this woman who sets his blood on fire and completes his soul.

Legacies, destiny, and prophecy can not withstand this power of attraction.

Power of Instinct
Book Two in the Blackstone Haven series.

A familiar man of two souls will walk beside you. He will protect you with his animal soul. His human spirit will shelter you when you most need. Before the final step to merge your body and soul is taken, a choice must be made.

Sinai Blackstone never expected the prophecy she had to fulfill would create such complications. Her reasons for going against the prophecy are sound. But when Ian finds out, it isn’t just the prophecy that is affected. Sinai isn’t prepared to deal with all that being with Ian entails. There is so much more than fulfilling some family legend at stake. Her heart, soul, and very life are on the line.

Ian McIntyre knows that Sinai believes she did what’s for the best. Yet, she has no clue their joining is beyond even what she could know. It isn’t about choice. It’s just meant to be. He would face legends for her. Give his life if needed. There was no choice for him. He would be with Sinai no matter the cost. Nothing will stand in his way--not Sinai and her stubborn pride, not death that is stalking her, nor anything on this earth or any plane. Sinai is his other half, the match for his soul, blood, and body.

When it becomes primal, there is no other way to handle legacies, destiny, and prophecy except… to go with your Power of Instinct.

Happy B-Day to me

I’m very excited today. It’s my birthday. I took this last week off and this weekend I am relaxing with my family. So there was no blogs, or group posts and little internet (hey I can’t do without no internet). I’ll be around but very little. I will be partying for my birthday. Yep my birthday. Yipppeee…

For my b-day I decided to buy some books, movies and music. These are three of the things I enjoy doing. Reading, watching movies and/or listening to music. I sometimes do all three together. I am off to start my b-day. Will be having a relaxing day with family. Plan to chill out. Have so much wonderful books to choose from to read and new music to hear. Ahhh… I love my b-day.

Snippet Saturday – Public Scene

blog-header-option2

Today’s snippet theme is Public Scene. Enjoy a look from one of my books.

carnalawakening_msr_smallAn snippet from Carnal Awakening

Raising her voice so it could be heard, Shay said. “I’d like to apo—”

“Now chérie, I know you’re not going to apologize and ruin the afterglow. Hell it was almost as good as a rip-roaring bout of sweaty sex.” A languid voice interrupted her.

Knowing who it was Shay smiled.

“Hunter,” another voice hissed.

With a glance to her left, Shay took in the twinkling eyes along with the wicked grin on Hunter Brooks’ face. From Flame Brooks’, Hunter’s sister, embarrassed expression Shay could tell Flame wished she were somewhere else. Flame hated being the center of attention while Hunter thrived on it. They were family to Mia and good friends.

“What? I said almost. It’s not like we’re not all adults here.” Hunter stated.

There was a mummer of agreements.

“And I’m sure we…“ Hunter paused, her eyes alight with mischief. She looked at her sister Flame then amended. “Well at least some of us know what I’m talking about.” She purred as if savoring each word.

There was more agreement tinged with laughter.

“Shay it’s always a pleasure coming here,” Hunter winked. “And the entertainment is always a side benefit. Don’t take away from—“

Flame interjected, “Do you always have to be the center of attention?”

Hunter glanced at her. “Of course. You should try it sometime. You might like it.”

Flame glanced at Hunter, up and down, then turned to Tevin who had returned and was standing next to her. Flame reached up pulled him down and kissed him. Hunter’s mouth dropped open. Everyone hooted. Shay who knew how straight-laced Flame was, enjoyed the show especially Hunter’s reaction. Flame released Tevin slowly. He looked stunned. Shay stifled a smile at the look on his face.

Flame sauntered away then looked back at Hunter. “For once you’re right it does feel wonderful.”

Hunter laughed then smacked Tevin on the arm. “Hah. Now that’s what I call entertainment.”

Glancing at Hunter, Shay mouthed her thanks. Hunter nodded, winked again, and then said. “Come on handsome, I have my eye on that Sigal vase in the back.”

Holding Tevin’s arm she led him toward the exclusive merchandise in the large room to the left. The regular noise level of the shop started to pick up as people dispersed. Observing the shop for a few minutes to make sure everything was okay, Shay turned to Mia.

Before she could say anything Mia turned walked away pushing the doors into the back room. Following her, Shay glanced back at Mikhail still standing silently across the room. Going through the doors she lost sight of him. Turning she noticed that Mia hadn’t gone far. She was standing in the doorway leading to the small flower nursery attached to shop.

Walking over Shay said, “Stay here a little bit while I take over for you.” Shay squeezed her hand gently turned and went back to the doors leading to the shop.

She glanced back and saw Mia walk down the aisle of the nursery. Seeing the slump in her shoulders as she disappeared behind some of the foliage Shay’s fist clenched. The callous words spoken by Ms. Cramigla had shaken the usually unshakable Mia. She imagined her fist connecting with Ms. Cramigla’s perfect face and breaking her nose, maybe a couple of teeth. She hoped Ms. Cramigla tried to see through on her threat of trying to ruin her. She would be in for a big surprise. The reputation she had built at Exotic would hold. She wasn’t anyone’s pushover. Making a mental note to place a few phone calls Shay went out the door into the store.

Snippet Saturday - Humor

blog-header-option2

Today’s snippet theme is Humor. Enjoy a look from one of my books.

An snippet from Wilde Seduction

wildeseduction_800_small1“But—” Mia growled at the sound of the dial tone.

She took the phone and started to push another number. A crackling sound stopped her. Turning around, Mia’s eyes widened. The stone statue on the ledge rippled, then burst open. Long wings spread high and flapped in the wind. They folded down and melded into a sleek back. Mia took a step back and gasped.

“Oh my,” she whispered.

Captivated, she took in the movement of his hard body. A perfect sun-kissed bare male ass flexed as he stretched his hands over his head. He shrugged bare shoulders in a fluid motion, and long fingers curled and released. Long, inky black hair flowed around him, blowing in the wind. The man turned and looked at her. His cerulean blue gaze seemed to glow. Mia’s eyes dropped, and she stifled a sigh to see he was now clothed.

The man jumped off the ledge onto the roof in an agile, effortless movement. He strode toward her with gracefulness and purpose in each step. As he came closer, she got a look at his flawless face. It was all carved planes and angles, as if put together by a master artisan. It was seductive and compelling. His full mouth curved was in a sexy grin that made her ache to take a nibble, and then suck his lips gently into hers. His blue eyes were even more captivating close up, surrounded by thick, curling lashes and heavy eyebrows. A shudder of longing raced through her. Mia licked her lips. His eyes followed the movement. His smile widened.

Mia blinked as the realisation of what she had just seen filled her.

He just came out of stone. No way are gargoyles real. Her eyes narrowed, and she grinned.

The man stopped just before he reached her.

“Who put you up to this? Reggie? Yeah, it had to be her. She knows I loved the Gargoyles cartoon when it was on. Goliath was my favourite—that voice and his personality.” She shuddered lightly, then continued, “Great trick with the wings. Where did you ditch them? You didn’t have to get dressed on my account.”

The man looked at her. Suddenly, there was a loud whoosh, then wings spread behind him. His shirt disappeared and his sculpted muscular chest glistened in the sun. Mia stepped back again and gasped. Laughing at herself for her reaction, she took a step towards him. He smiled at her and beckoned her closer. Mia took another and another step. The man gestured behind him, then turned his back to her. Taking his unspoken invitation, Mia stepped close enough to see and touch. Hesitantly, she looked, then gulped. The wings seemed to be coming out of his skin. Almost afraid to know, she reached out and ran her hand down between his wings, then along where they joined his back. Feeling only skin and cartilage, Mia gasped and stepped back.

The man turned and captured her arm before she could move away. She looked at him. He pulled her close to his heated body. His wings folded down and away. A shirt reappeared, covering his chest.

“Do not be afraid, miele,” the man rumbled.

Mia stilled a shudder. He sounded just like Goliath from the Gargoyles animated show. If she hadn’t touched his back and knew that his wings were real, she would have still believed that Reggie or one of her other partners was playing a trick on her. He was very real, and a gargoyle to boot. She didn’t know how she felt, but afraid wasn’t even close. Turned on and confused were just a few of the things she was experiencing.

“Please. I’ve dealt with irate clients who are more frightening than you. I’m not afraid. Intrigued more than anything else. So, you’re a gargoyle.”

“That’s the human term for it. The right term is Garlven.”

“Garlven,” she repeated.

“Yes. Good pronunciation.” The man smiled, obviously pleased.

“So, should I even ask why you’re hanging around a rooftop in Milan on the Wilde Hotel, or do you usually touch strange women?” Mia grinned.

“Just relaxing. And no, not usually.” The man laughed and released her hand, stepping back.

“You were listening to my conversation, huh? It’s not nice to eavesdrop.” Mia narrowed her eyes.

“I never said I was nice.” The man grinned wolfishly.

Mia laughed, and he joined her.

“You’re being very calm about this,” he pointed out.

“I figure I’m sleeping and having a really good dream, or I’ve lost my mind.” Mia shrugged.

The man laughed again, a rich sound. Mia grinned, flexed the hand holding her phone, and put the phone in her pocket. She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.

“I’m going with it being a dream, and I’m enjoying it. So, you sound American, yet you’re on a rooftop in Milan. Are you on vacation too, um... what’s your name?”

“Ah…forgive me. Yes, I am American, and this is one of many rooftops I, my family, and business associates own. I’m actually working, I’m sorry to say, and not vacationing. I’m Remy Wilde, a Garlven from the Quilez clan, at your service.” He bowed regally.

“Mia Turner, of the human race and from the Turner family. Nice to meet you, Remy, a Garlven from the Quilez clan and owner in this hotel.” Mia chuckled. “A very nice hotel. “

Leslie Esdaile Banks has passed

I just heard that Leslie Esdaile, (“L.A. Banks”) has passed. I’m so heartbroken by this.

I’ve know Leslie as a reader I’ve loved her books from contemporary to now where she writes as LA Banks and has lots of wonderful series. I’ve also had the privilege of meeting Leslie a few years ago at RT Convention. Since then I consider her a friend and family. We had lunch together where she listened as I spoke of my books and she urged me to submit to more publishers and even gave me a contact. This year’s RT Convention she gave me two cover quotes for my upcoming releases. Both books are now out.  She is an awesome, warm and giving woman. I am saddened she is gone.

RIP Leslie. You will be very much missed. Please send your thoughts and prayers to her family.
