Snippet Saturday – Holiday
Today’s snippet theme is Holiday. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Veils Rising…
Clenching her fist, Dilana thumped the glass again. “I hate Christmas. When will it be over?”
“In ten days, on December 26 at midnight.”
Dilana stiffened at the sound of the unfamiliar male voice that rolled over her like a silken caress. Turning away from the window, Dilana locked eyes with warm whiskey amber eyes with flecks of green. Her first impression was of restrained power. The stranger had to be at least six inches taller than her own height of five-eleven, making him six-five. His face was a sensual array of panels and sharp angles. He surpassed being handsome into the devastating category. His full lips quirked with a hint of laughter while his dark brown hair was slicked away from his face. The end of a braid rested over his shoulder, curling against his chest.
With a glance down, she took in his light brown shirt and dark brown slacks that complimented his light sienna skin while fitting his body impeccably. Despite his clothing she could see he was rippling with muscles.
“However, the holiday season doesn’t officially end until January 2 at midnight.” His voice reminded her of Cajun gumbo—hot, thick and spicy.
The hint of mischief on his face was at odds with the intensity she felt coming off him in waves. A flash of desire seemed to go over his face but was quickly suppressed. When he moved forward closer to the desk with sensuous grace, she felt the raw animal magnetism surrounding him race up her arm along her skin. Stifling her gasp, Dilana continued to watch him. He came around the desk and lifted his hand. Without any conscious thought, her hand flashed up to stop him from touching her. She felt the strength of the muscle in his arm before a vision crashed over her.
The man was talking in the flowing patois of Cajun French. Not the one she had been taught in school. The dialect was different, more earthy. She was able to interpret a few words. Heritage, lost and danger were the predominant ones. She couldn’t see whom he was speaking to.
Time rushed forward.
The man smiled with an intense look of a hunter. The look of lust on his face made her quiver in desire and a little fear. He circled a woman. She saw the woman’s face was turned away, her breathing was harsh and shuddering. Glancing down, she saw the woman wore a delicate necklace she couldn’t make it out completely. It seemed to be just out of sight. Looking lower, she saw the woman was bare except for jewelry. The brilliance of the gold, white gold and precious stones shone against the woman’s rich, dark caramel skin.
A diamond and ruby lay side by side as they covered each nipple clamp while one chain of white gold offset with flecks of diamonds and another gold chain offset with flecks of rubies fell down on one side. A glance showed her the other side was the same. The chains led down to attach to various chains intersecting around the woman’s waist. The chains alternated between one row of chains made of white gold with miniature diamonds hanging from them and a row of gold chains with miniature rubies hanging down. The chains stopped just above her hips with a diamond and ruby fused together covering her mound. The woman moaned, drawing her attention.
Glancing up, she locked eyes with dark grey. She gulped, realizing she was looking at herself. A vibrating feeling hit her clit and as she looked on she and her future image shuddered and moaned simultaneously. An orgasm started to build from deep within, ripping outward. The woman bowed as she bowed.
Wrenching herself out of the vision, Dilana jerked her hand off his arm. She watched as the man stepped back. She tried to control her breathing as the feel of the golden chains against her skin slowly faded.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to crowd you,” the man said stiffly. “I’ll just leave this with you.” He put down the folder he held and the card. He turned and left before she could get her wits about her to say a word.
Dilana took a deep breath cursing herself and reached for the folder. Pulling out her chair, she took a seat as she opened the folder. Her breath stalled. “Shit.”

Gadget Takeover
Well with the holiday season fast approaching I have been checking out gadgets. Sigh just saying that gives this gadget junkie a thrill. I’ve been trying to convince my sister for ages to get an e-reader. She does not like gadgets at all (putting hand against forehead.) Where did I go wrong? I was planning to get her one for Christmas then show her how to use it. I was determined to drag her into my gadget world despite her objections. Imagine my surprise when she called a few weeks ago wanting to get one and for me to tell her what to get. I had to tell her what her Christmas gift was but I was so happy she agreed to get one. And I didn’t even have to guilt her about all the money I spent and she wasn’t using my wonderful gadget gift. I’m really good at guilt. So with my sis waiting eagerly (snort, that is such a lie) I’ve been looking into what she should get based on what she wants to use it for. Hey any excuse to look at gadgets (grin).
Well I got another shock. My other sister who is also not into technology recently called to tell me her hubby got her an iPad for her birthday. And she was excited about it. (pumping fist) I was excited right along with her. Not to mention proud she has come to the gadget side.
Two converts down in my plan. I’m slowly converting my family and friends in my gadget takeover plan. (eyeing some others out there) They have no clue who will be next. Say it with me - Gadgets are Good.
Back to my sis’s iPad. After hearing about her getting the iPad I of course am a nice shade of color. Green that is. Color me green with envy. (wink) I want one. Like now. (sigh) No iPad appeared. I have to work on my wishing skills.
Well until I can wish one up I have a date real soon to meet the new gadget addition to the family. The iPad. (thumpy, thumpy) There goes this gadget junkie’s heart beating in anticipation. Hmm… I wonder if I can negotiate visitation rights with my sis’s iPad. LOL. Probably not. But I will at least get to see and hopeful touch it longingly.
Now help a gadget junkie out. What are some gadgets you have or wish you had?

Catching up and early Christmas Gift
Last week as a Christmas gift Aliyah Burke, McKenna Jeffries and I posted a free exclusive Satin Notes Story to our various yahoo groups.
Just a note in case you all didn’t know I do have few free reads that are posted exclusive to my yahoo group. I’ve mentioned some of them here before but not all.
I’m very glad that I have finished my Christmas shopping. It has been very cold here and I could not imagine going out to shop in this weather. It has been really weird weather all over the place this year. Wherever you are if it is cold try to keep warm and safe. If it is warm or hot I am so jealous and want to come to visit. LOL.

Snippet Saturday – Romance
Today’s snippet theme is Romance. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from God Style Temptation…
“But I didn’t count on you. The temptation that you would bring me. You made me hope. Hope that I could have an invincible man who would never leave me, but then you told me about your wife dying. Yes I know she chose to save your son, but I couldn’t take the chance. I fooled myself into believing it was just sex but it wasn’t. Isn’t. I can’t take it if you die on me, Nigel, but I can’t live without you either. It’s like you died anyway. In here.” She pressed her hand over her heart.
Nigel put his hand over hers and shook his head. “Ah queinlos, we all must live the life we have now. I can’t promise you that nothing will happen to me but I can promise that even if I die I will always find you.”
Aurora looked into his eyes. “I love you, Nigel.”
The look on his face was priceless. She laughed and he joined her.
He sobered and his gaze was intense. “I love you, Aurora, my queinlos.”
Nigel gaze shifted pass her shoulder. Aurora followed his gaze and gasped. There was a breathtakingly lovely woman standing in the doorway leading to the garden. Her hair hung around her in inky black curls and her eyes were rich amber. Aurora could see the garden through the door through her. Aurora knew she was looking at the ghost of Nigel’s deceased wife Zarlu. The woman smiled, gave them a thumbs up and then she was gone.
Looking back at Nigel she saw the soft smile on his face. He looked at her and she saw the peace and love shining in his eyes. He leaned in and kissed her. Sinking into his kiss Aurora felt the hunger she always felt when he touched her, rush to consume her. Nigel murmured against her lips. Still holding her in his arms he walked toward the door to the gardens. Stepping outside he strode down the path and around the corner of the house. Stopping he lowered her to a bed of flowers and kneeled between her widespread thighs.
As she lay on them Aurora inhaled their sweet scent. Over Nigel’s shoulder she could see the snow covering the ground a little distance away from the house. The gardens and around the house were bright and warm from the sun.
Nigel was waiting for her to look at him.
Reaching up she cupped his cheek. “Make love to me.”

Snippet Saturday - Author's Choice
Today’s snippet theme is Author's Choice. I've chosen one of my fav scences in one of my books. I’ve spoken of moments on my blog in the past and how they are powerful. They should be celebrated and observed in some way. First a slight set up. Nigel Ha’gan my hero is having a hard time moving on with his life after his wife passed. Well until an intervention via a dream shakes him up.
An snippet from God Style Temptation….
“Nigel, you have to let me go,” Zarlu said in that soft voice of hers, then she smacked him on the head.
“Ow, what did you do that for?” Nigel looked at Zarlu’s twinkling blue eyes.
She smiled, a sweet twist of her lips and put her hands on her hips. He knew from her stance he was in trouble.
“Why are you holding me as a shield so no one can get close to you? Geesh. You’re a man for god’s sake. You have needs.” She paced back and forth in front of him. She stopped and gave him a sexy look. “I know you’re not a saint.” She chuckled sensuously. “So stop being an ass and start to live.”
Watching her Nigel ached to touch her one last time. She smiled as if she understood. Coming to him, she slid her arms around him. Sinking into her embrace Nigel felt her love and care for him.
Zarlu pulled back with her arms still around him and sighed. “Nigel, it’s time to get back to living. Stop holding onto the past.” She looked at him. “When you’re ready you’ll know it’s time.” She glanced over his shoulder. Following her gaze Nigel looked at himself and the woman on the bed.
“Her name is Aurora and she needs you as much as you need her, Nigel.” Zarlu touched his cheek gently, pulled his face close and kissed him softly and tenderly. “I love you, my warlious.” She started to fade.
Reaching for her he whispered. “I love you, my sesuioul.” She smiled and disappeared. Watching her leave Nigel knew it was the last time. Tears rained down his face as he returned to his body.
Gasping he came awake, careful not to jerk the sleeping woman. He felt the tears on his face. Taking them off his cheek he held them and watched as they turned into a handful of diamonds.

Snippet Saturday - Bad dates (gah!)
Today’s snippet theme is Bad dates. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Burning Touch…
“I’ll be okay. Thanks for a nice evening.” Halle James tried not to gag as she spoke the words that were a bold faced lie.
She gave her friend Kathryn a look that clearly said they would be talking about all that had happened that night. Kathryn winced then came to her.
“I’m sorry,” Kathryn said softly as she hugged her.
“You owe me big,” Halle replied in an equally soft voice.
Kathryn stepped back and went to her husband Chris. They both glared at the man named Dillon whom Halle had dubbed as octopus. Dillon returned the look and sauntered down the block whistling. She sighed and waved at her friends as she walked away from them. Her skin still crawled at the memory of the dinner she’d just had with her friends. They’d been matchmaking again. Dillon, the octopus, had groped her all evening until she’d finally had enough. When she had told him she would cut off his hands if he didn’t keep them to himself, he hadn’t even blinked. He just leered and said he liked it rough.
She’d had seen the look of fury on Chris’ face and had known he was about to deck Dillon. Although she would have enjoyed seeing her date sprawled on his ass, Halle hadn’t wanted a scene. To alleviate the brewing fight, she’d gotten up to leave. Her friends had followed her, as well as the Octopus, outside the restaurant where they’d been having dinner. Dillon was so oblivious to the ass beating he was about to get he’d made another salacious comment. Chris had lunged at him. Dillon was quick on his feet and moved out of the way. It had taken both her and Kathryn to calm Chris down. Instead of leaving, Dillon had stuck around a little distance from them and acted offended. Making a nuisance of himself, he said he didn’t know what their problem was.
Shaking off the thoughts of the evening, Halle swore silently. Her friends didn’t get that she wasn’t interested in them finding her a man whom they thought was perfect for her. Each time they’d tried had been one disaster after another. When she’d asked them to stop, they had backed off for a bit then the matchmaking had started again.
“Tonight is the last straw,” Halle vowed.

A Thanksgiving Memory
I remember one holiday when we all went to my uncle’s house. Before we went they had a debate on who could make the best carrot cake, so my Mom made one and my uncle made one. The family members in attendance were the judges whose was the best. We had the better end of the competition getting to eat all that great cakes. Of course there was tie. Our family knew better than to declare an actual winner since it meant more bake off’s for future holidays. (wink)
Those who hadn’t come that year were sorry when they found out what they missed. Each year after that we had almost every family member there. LOL. Lots of good eating, fun, and chatting. Ahh… a good memory.
What are some of your Thanksgiving memories?

Snippet Saturday - Birthdays
Today’s snippet theme is Birthdays. This is my take on the theme. It is a rebirth. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Shadow Dance….
“You have been messing with me since that first day,” Yadira said.
The woman nodded then whispered in a voice like silken sheets, “Yes. I am sorry but being so close to power has awakened me out of The Eye of Ra.”
“Sekhmet,” Dimitri’s tortured whisper reached her, confirming what she suspected.
Yadira saw the pain and joy in his face. Sekhmet reached out for him and he enfolded her into his arms. She was almost as tall as he was. They trembled together. Yadira could see the tears raining down his face as he held Sekhmet in his arms.
Dimitri pulled back looking at Sekhmet. “We thought you were dead. Kianga, they said you were dead.”
Sekhmet looked at him sorrow on her face. “Ahhh, Dimitri I have not heard that name in so long. It is appropriate that the Kianga name lives and lets the Sekhmet name die. I have missed you my brother.”
They embraced again. Dimitri stroked her hair.
“What happened to you?” Dimitri demanded.
Sekhmet looked over at Solaris. “Father contained me in The Eye of Ra.”
Dimitri looked at Solaris and stepped toward him. Sekhmet stopped him gripping his arm.
“No Dimitri. It was the right thing to do. I would have destroyed the world if he hadn’t.” Sekhmet looked at him sadness and regret on her face.
A cold wind blew into the cave whirling the dirt all around. Yadira shielded her gaze then looked at Dimitri who was standing before Sekhmet. He moved and she realized it wasn’t him, but Dominic. Dimitri stood still next to Sekhmet. “Sekhmet.” Dominic said, pain raw in his voice.
He dropped to his knees and rested his head against her bare stomach. The sound of his weeping filled the chamber. He trembled and shook with the force of it. Dimitri rested his hand on Dominic’s head while his arm encircled Sekhmet. Sekhmet looked down at him shock and pain lighting her face.
“Oh Dominic what has happened to you.” She leaned down pulling him closer to her.
He wrapped his arms more tightly around her and continued to weep. Looking up from him she looked at Solaris. “What have you done?”
Solaris looked at her. “Nothing. You must return to me Sekhmet for the sake of humanity.”
Sekhmet looked at him. “You will not contain me in The Eye of Ra again.” Solaris looked at her pain and sorrow in his gaze. “I must.” Raising his hand he shot bluish fire at her.
Pushing away from Dimitri and Dominic she stepped forward to meet it. It curled around her, swirled, then flowed to her mouth. She opened her full lips and sucked it in. Yadira started as a pop filled the air then the flames were gone.
Solaris looked at Sekhmet. “Ahhh daughter, I do not want to destroy you.”
Sekhmet raised her chin. “You will not have to. I will return home with you and fulfill any punishment you deem sufficient.”
Solaris nodded.
“Sekhmet,” Dominic cried.
Sekhmet turned to him and touched his cheek. “No Dominic. It is the right thing to do. I am sorry for all the pain I have made you suffer.” Tears rained down her cheeks and she turned to walk to Solaris.

Snippet Saturday - Make me laugh!
Today’s snippet theme is Make me laugh! Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Wilde Seduction…
“But—” Mia growled at the sound of the dial tone.
She took the phone and started to push another number. A crackling sound stopped her. Turning around, Mia’s eyes widened. The stone statue on the ledge rippled, then burst open. Long wings spread high and flapped in the wind. They folded down and melded into a sleek back. Mia took a step back and gasped.
“Oh my,” she whispered.
Captivated, she took in the movement of his hard body. A perfect sun-kissed bare male ass flexed as he stretched his hands over his head. He shrugged bare shoulders in a fluid motion, and long fingers curled and released. Long, inky black hair flowed around him, blowing in the wind. The man turned and looked at her. His cerulean blue gaze seemed to glow. Mia’s eyes dropped, and she stifled a sigh to see he was now clothed.
The man jumped off the ledge onto the roof in an agile, effortless movement. He strode toward her with gracefulness and purpose in each step. As he came closer, she got a look at his flawless face. It was all carved planes and angles, as if put together by a master artisan. It was seductive and compelling. His full mouth curved was in a sexy grin that made her ache to take a nibble, and then suck his lips gently into hers. His blue eyes were even more captivating close up, surrounded by thick, curling lashes and heavy eyebrows. A shudder of longing raced through her. Mia licked her lips. His eyes followed the movement. His smile widened.
Mia blinked as the realisation of what she had just seen filled her.
He just came out of stone. No way are gargoyles real. Her eyes narrowed, and she grinned.
The man stopped just before he reached her.
“Who put you up to this? Reggie? Yeah, it had to be her. She knows I loved the Gargoyles cartoon when it was on. Goliath was my favourite—that voice and his personality.” She shuddered lightly, then continued, “Great trick with the wings. Where did you ditch them? You didn’t have to get dressed on my account.”
The man looked at her. Suddenly, there was a loud whoosh, then wings spread behind him. His shirt disappeared and his sculpted muscular chest glistened in the sun. Mia stepped back again and gasped. Laughing at herself for her reaction, she took a step towards him. He smiled at her and beckoned her closer. Mia took another and another step. The man gestured behind him, then turned his back to her. Taking his unspoken invitation, Mia stepped close enough to see and touch. Hesitantly, she looked, then gulped. The wings seemed to be coming out of his skin. Almost afraid to know, she reached out and ran her hand down between his wings, then along where they joined his back. Feeling only skin and cartilage, Mia gasped and stepped back.
The man turned and captured her arm before she could move away. She looked at him. He pulled her close to his heated body. His wings folded down and away. A shirt reappeared, covering his chest.
“Do not be afraid, miele,” the man rumbled.
Mia stilled a shudder. He sounded just like Goliath from the Gargoyles animated show. If she hadn’t touched his back and knew that his wings were real, she would have still believed that Reggie or one of her other partners was playing a trick on her. He was very real, and a gargoyle to boot. She didn’t know how she felt, but afraid wasn’t even close. Turned on and confused were just a few of the things she was experiencing.
“Please. I’ve dealt with irate clients who are more frightening than you. I’m not afraid. Intrigued more than anything else. So, you’re a gargoyle.”
“That’s the human term for it. The right term is Garlven.”
“Garlven,” she repeated.
“Yes. Good pronunciation.” The man smiled, obviously pleased.
“So, should I even ask why you’re hanging around a rooftop in Milan on the Wilde Hotel, or do you usually touch strange women?” Mia grinned.
“Just relaxing. And no, not usually.” The man laughed and released her hand, stepping back.
“You were listening to my conversation, huh? It’s not nice to eavesdrop.” Mia narrowed her eyes.
“I never said I was nice.” The man grinned wolfishly.
Mia laughed, and he joined her.
“You’re being very calm about this,” he pointed out.
“I figure I’m sleeping and having a really good dream, or I’ve lost my mind.” Mia shrugged.
The man laughed again, a rich sound. Mia grinned, flexed the hand holding her phone, and put the phone in her pocket. She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
“I’m going with it being a dream, and I’m enjoying it. So, you sound American, yet you’re on a rooftop in Milan. Are you on vacation too, um... what’s your name?”
“Ah…forgive me. Yes, I am American, and this is one of many rooftops I, my family, and business associates own. I’m actually working, I’m sorry to say, and not vacationing. I’m Remy Wilde, a Garlven from the Quilez clan, at your service.” He bowed regally.
“Mia Turner, of the human race and from the Turner family. Nice to meet you, Remy, a Garlven from the Quilez clan and owner in this hotel.” Mia chuckled. “A very nice hotel. “

Snippet Saturday – Bring me a tissue
Today’s snippet theme is an emotional moment. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Onyx Moon Rising…
Tashana could feel her strength fading. Slashing out, she took out more Deathwalkers. A Deathwalker rushed her. It got pass past her guard and hit her in the chest. Her one remaining sword she held flew out of her hand. Quickly she called her whip then raised her hand. She hit it back and slashed down with her whip. It disintegrated. Flicking her whip, she took out a few more. Taking a step back, she stumbled over Sanjay and fell on her back. Groaning, she rolled to her side and got to her knees. The Deathwalkers watched her and stalked forward. The Onyx Moon became hot against her skin. Sure in their victory, they closed in. Putting her hand on Sanjay's chest, Tashana felt his labored breathing.
Looking at him, she felt sorrow well in her. "I'm sorry, Sanjay."
The Deathwalkers laughed as the man continued to read the scroll. The Deathwalkers reached her, then she saw ice form covering the ones closest to her. A sound whistled in the air and the Deathwalkers shattered. Looking up, Tashana blinked, unsure if she was seeing things. Hundreds of dragons, in every color of the rainbow, came silent on the wind over the treetops. The sight of the massive dragon leading them captured all her attention. It was golden, the tips of its scales and tail were burnt orange. The dragon raised its head and screeched. Then lowered its head and breathed frost. Ice coated the Deathwalkers freezing them in place .
Suddenly, fire rained from the sky. A figure was throwing fire from the dragon's back. As they got closer, Tashana saw it was Zaila. She had a fierce look on her face throwing fire and light at various intervals. Tashana heard a whistling sound and it took her a moment to realize that it was a whip. Turning her head, her breath caught as she watched Jaynat hanging from the bottom of a purple dragon as she used one of her two whips. Jaynat lashed with her other whip shattering the frozen Deathwalkers. Reaching them, the dragons shifted into men and women, cutting through the Deathwalkers. Covering Sanjay with her body, Tashana listened as the sounds of battle waged around her. After a while, all was silent.
Cautiously she glanced up and saw the area was clear. The Deathwalkers were gone. A golden dragon landed with Zaila still on its back. It shifted into a man and he ran toward them, carrying Zaila. Jerking up, Tashana felt something tugging at her.
"Freitious!" a voice screamed.
The Onyx Moon pulled her across the clearing toward the man who held the scroll. Tashana took her dagger and flung it at him. His eyes widened as it hit him in the chest. He crumpled. She continued to be pulled to him. Reaching him, she collapsed on the ground. A fiery rd sensation filled her then the Onyx Moon pulsed. Screaming, she scrambled to her knees and grabbed at her neck. Ripping it off, she stumbled back as it hit the ground. Black light burst from the ground below the necklace and the earth split and a shape poured out. Rolling out of the way Tashana came up on her knees.
A shape shot into the sky and blocked out the sun. The backwash of power knocked everyone in the clearing off their feet. The dragons in the sky plummeted to Earth. When they hit, the earth shook. Tashana took in the vision of death. The Onyx Dragon. It was true black with no color at all. It raised it head and screeched. The Onyx Moon hung from its neck. Trees lit on fire and the earth stood still. It lowered its head and looked at her. She saw herself reflected in its black gaze. In them, she saw her death and read the truth. When the Onyx Moon pendent was stripped of its power, the power had taken corporeal form before it was put to sleep. It had waited for centuries to be awakened to get its opportunity for vengeance. The power had been created to be used to protect and not harm. Yet according to the wearer of the Onyx Moon, the power was enslaved by their desires. It had been corrupted with each destructive use. Now it was tired of the world and wanted all to die.
Opening its large mouth, the Onyx Dragon turned its head and blew fire, cutting her off from everyone around her. It looked at her again and dove. The wind whispered to her and Tashana heard it. Dropping down, she touched the earth. Power raced through the earth then fire licked up her arms circling her. Standing she looked down at the chains of Terra circling each arm. The earth had given them one of its greatest weapons of protection. The chains were bright white light. Pure and unbreakable.
Looking back up at the Onyx Dragon, she smiled and took off in a run. Using the man as a springboard, she flew up and met the Onyx Dragon. Swinging, Tashana latched the chains of Terra around its neck and used them to pull herself up. It screamed, twisting its head to shake her off. She held on. Reaching its back, she swung herself up and stood. Twirling one of the chains around her fist, she punched down. The Onyx Dragon dipped but didn’t go down. She raised her fist again, then hesitated, tilting her head to hear a whisper on the wind.
"Death."
Following through, Tashana punched down hard and felt the skin and bone give. The Onyx Dragon plummeted from the sky. Holding on with the other chain, Tashana rode it. Hitting the ground, she jarred as they skidded across the clearing. It shuddered and took its last breath. Suddenly, it shifted beneath her. Standing, legs widespread, Tashana looked down at the woman below her. Her skin was the color of dark oak and the Onyx Moon rested between her naked breasts. Her white hair was spread around her body partially covering her. The woman’s eyes flew open and she gasped. Tashana did not move, just watched her.
The woman looked at her and said, "Finish it."
Tashana raised her fist and brought it down.
Stopping just above her chest, Tashana said, "No. You're free. You can control the Onyx Moon now if you choose."
The woman looked at her. "I want to die."
"Dying is an easy way out. Redemption builds the soul."
Stepping over her, Tashana ran to Sanjay. Zaila ran up to them.
"Please help him, Zaila."
Zaila hook her head. "I can't. I'm too weak."
Looking at Zaila, Tashana saw her sway. The man who had been holding Zalia when he landed walked up to her and took some of her weight.
"Let me." The same man said.
Looking up, Tashana saw the reserved look on the woman's face. "How can I trust you not to hurt him, Onyx Dragon?"
The woman laughed a bitter sound. "My name is Indigo, and you can't."

The Feral Contest
Vacation and One More Step
A little over a week ago as I was cleaning out my files I found something I had written years ago. My original “Writing Career Plan”. On this Plan I found one of my goals that I realized I had already achieved. A few days ago I mentioned vaguely about something I missed and sending in paperwork. Well now I can tell you what it is about. I’ve belonged to the writing organization - RWA - Romance Writer’s of America for a lot of years. My mom was alive and she was there when I found out about it, joined, then joined chapters, started interacting with other writers, and served as an officer of my chapter. I remember the feelings of finding others like me. My Mom sat with me as I made my “Writing Career Plan”. We went over it closely together. While she was alive I checked off many of those goals I had set.
Since that original I’ve written other Plans that keep changing and evolving. I’ve always worked towards my writing career goals but with all that has been going on these last few years – my Mom passing, my own illnesses and life – I lost track of the original Plan. The one I wrote with my Mom. When I found it an over a week ago it brought up lots of feelings and memories. I reviewed the Original Writing Career Plan and checked off a few of the goals I had meet. The one I mentioned in a previous post and above hadn’t registered at all with all that had been going on. I had achieved it many times over but I have missed it for years. This weekend I checked off another goal from that original plan.
I am now a RWA PAN member. There was lots of emotions I experienced when I got the confirmation I was now PAN. The most prominent was tears. Tears remembering when I made that list with my Mom. My mom who was my biggest supporter. It was from her and my big sis I got my love of reading. She used to listen when I made up my own fairytales and made sure I always had money to buy books. My Mom is who read my first book I wrote for possible publication. She was blunt about it. She liked it but it needed more. LOL. I remember her sitting and listening to all my ideas then telling me to stop talking about it and go write it. I remember waking her at two in the morning with my screaming that I finished my first book. Those blunt words of more that I took as a challenge and did more. I rewrote the book doubling the word count then gave it to her to read again. Her liking it and asking about the other characters. Then going onto my next book. She was there for the beginning stages of my career. For those milestones.
RWA PAN is another check off in my Original Writing Career Plan. (grin) One more step in my writing career path. I have one more goal on my Original Writing Career Plan I haven’t checked yet but I know it will come. It is one of the goals that I also have on my current Writing Career Plan.
I have many plans I still have to achieve and keep adding more as my writing career evolves. With each I know my Mom is there smiling down on me. Sometimes I even imagine her giving her blunt thoughts on the step I am planning to take.
I have lots more to do and achieve. Thank to all of you who have been with me for this continued journey. There is much more to come.

Snippet Saturday – Spooky
Today’s snippet theme is Spooky. Below is one of my favorite scenes from a book that I wrote with authors Aliyah Burke and McKenna Jeffries for our free read site called Satin Notes. It is long so placed it behind a link. Enjoy.
An snippet from Break Every Rule…
In a glance, she took in a gagged Taggart, tied to the chair in the center of the room. He was looking at her. The dogs were all laying on the floor, spread throughout the room. Instinctively, she turned and raised her hand.
“I’ll give you some love,” a voice hissed.
Dominique looked into crazed eyes. She pulled her hand back and punched out with her fist. Her assailant took the blow and hit her arm. The sharp sting of a needle registered a second after it plunged in and the depressor pushed.
Dominique’s surprised look was met with a chilling smile. “Welcome to my party.”
A woozy feeling filled Dominique. She shook it off and jumped at her attacker, but her aim was off. The target moved, then lashed out with a fist, catching Dominique on the side of the head. She fell back, then rushed the individual again, sustaining another hit for her trouble. Dominique lashed out, grunting as her fist hit flesh. She gripped a hand, twisted, and felt the arm break. A voice shrieked, and then another blow hit her in the chest. She stumbled back, but righted herself. Her head swam. Dominique refused to give into it. She swung and hit flesh again. A kick in her leg made it buckle, and she fell onto her back. The enraged face filled her vision.
“You broke my fucking arm! You cunt!” her attacker screamed.
Dominique smiled, a nasty grin. “I’m going to break more than that, Kelin.” She laughed.
Kelin roared, then punched out. Dominique caught her fist, then decked her. Blood spurted out of her nose. Dominique laughed again. Kelin growled and lashed out with her broken hand. Dominique grabbed it and twisted. Kelin howled, then kicked her. Pain blasted through Dominique, and blackness filled her vision. Gasping, she released Kelin, struggling for consciousness and breath.
“I’m going to kill you. Kill you,” Kelin sang in a broken voice.
Dominique fought to stay awake, but it was useless. Oh God, not again. I have to protect him. The darkness claimed her.
Dominique bit back a groan as she woke. Cautiously, she kept still and tried to figure out where she was. From the feel of it, she knew she was lying on the carpeted floor. She shifted slowly and felt the bite of ropes on her wrists, tied behind her back. A hysterical voice broke the silence.
“This would never have happened, Taggart, if only you’d have noticed me. We were so good together. All those late hours working as a team. A couple. Then you had to get all wrapped up in that bitch. You didn’t pay attention to the warnings I gave you. You should have left her!” Kelin raged.
She paused, then paced. Dominique heard the drag of her shoes on the carpet.
Kelin’s tone softened and went sickly sweet. “But I know you didn’t mean it. She had you in her trap. Once she’s gone, we can be together. You, me, and the dogs. They’ll learn to like me. We’ll have to put hers to sleep, of course.”
Kelin made a humming noise. Dominique opened her eyes to slits. Kelin’s back was to her as she straddled Taggart on the chair. Kelin made the sound again.
“I want a real kiss. I’m going to take off your gag.” Kelin laughed, attempting to sound sultry.
Dominique realized Kelin was kissing Taggart. She tamped down her rage. Kelin reached up, then swore as her left hand hung uselessly at her side.
“That bitch broke my arm.” Kelin looked over her shoulder.
Dominique closed her eyes and regulated her breathing. She heard the drag of Kelin’s footsteps on the carpet. Holding still, Dominique poised herself to spring.
“He’s mine, and he’ll forget you,” Kelin spat.
Her voice sounded too far away for Dominique to take her out.
A brief pause, and then her footsteps hurried back to Taggart. “Now for that kiss.”
Dominique silted her eyes again to see her. Kelin stood to the side of Taggart as she used her right hand to take off the tape from his mouth. Blood ran down the side of Taggart’s face. He looked at Dominique, his face calm, then turned to look at Kelin.

Visual Words
I have and have heard many readers mention how they got into such and such book. They could see the characters or feel they were in their shoes. This is all invoked by the visual words used by the author. When written well a story will bring to life what you are reading. You can picture it like a movie in your mind. The scenes roll out to you. You are living it and wondering what is happening next.
From each variety of emotion – the pulse pounding excitement of meeting someone to when you think all is lost. Then to getting back together and all in between. It is all driven by the visual words created by the tale you are reading.
If you think about it even before we put started to put pen to paper or type on a computer there were storytellers. And just as author now who use the tools to write pen/paper or type on a computer those storytellers used their words to create visuals. To create epic tales that drew the hearer in. Their words made the listener live, feel and be a part of it. Story telling is all about all the visual. Making the words come to life. They become - Visual Words.

Snippet Saturday – Secondary Characters
Today’s snippet theme is Secondary Characters. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Carnal Awakening…
Raising her voice so it could be heard, Shay said. “I’d like to apo—”
“Now chérie, I know you’re not going to apologize and ruin the afterglow. Hell it was almost as good as a rip-roaring bout of sweaty sex.” A languid voice interrupted her.
Knowing who it was Shay smiled.
“Hunter,” another voice hissed.
With a glance to her left, Shay took in the twinkling eyes along with the wicked grin on Hunter Brooks’ face. From Flame Brooks’, Hunter’s sister, embarrassed expression Shay could tell Flame wished she were somewhere else. Flame hated being the center of attention while Hunter thrived on it. They were family to Mia and good friends.
“What? I said almost. It’s not like we’re not all adults here.” Hunter stated.
There was a mummer of agreements.
“And I’m sure we…“ Hunter paused, her eyes alight with mischief. She looked at her sister Flame then amended. “Well at least some of us know what I’m talking about.” She purred as if savoring each word.
There was more agreement tinged with laughter.
“Shay it’s always a pleasure coming here,” Hunter winked. “And the entertainment is always a side benefit. Don’t take away from—“
Flame interjected, “Do you always have to be the center of attention?”
Hunter glanced at her. “Of course. You should try it sometime. You might like it.”
Flame glanced at Hunter, up and down, then turned to Tevin who had returned and was standing next to her. Flame reached up pulled him down and kissed him. Hunter’s mouth dropped open. Everyone hooted. Shay who knew how straight-laced Flame was, enjoyed the show especially Hunter’s reaction. Flame released Tevin slowly. He looked stunned. Shay stifled a smile at the look on his face.
Flame sauntered away then looked back at Hunter. “For once you’re right it does feel wonderful.”
Hunter laughed then smacked Tevin on the arm. “Hah. Now that’s what I call entertainment.”
Glancing at Hunter, Shay mouthed her thanks. Hunter nodded, winked again, and then said. “Come on handsome, I have my eye on that Sigal vase in the back.”
Holding Tevin’s arm she led him toward the exclusive merchandise in the large room to the left. The regular noise level of the shop started to pick up as people dispersed. Observing the shop for a few minutes to make sure everything was okay, Shay turned to Mia.
Before she could say anything Mia turned walked away pushing the doors into the back room. Following her, Shay glanced back at Mikhail still standing silently across the room. Going through the doors she lost sight of him. Turning she noticed that Mia hadn’t gone far. She was standing in the doorway leading to the small flower nursery attached to shop.
Walking over Shay said, “Stay here a little bit while I take over for you.” Shay squeezed her hand gently turned and went back to the doors leading to the shop.
She glanced back and saw Mia walk down the aisle of the nursery. Seeing the slump in her shoulders as she disappeared behind some of the foliage Shay’s fist clenched. The callous words spoken by Ms. Cramigla had shaken the usually unshakable Mia. She imagined her fist connecting with Ms. Cramigla’s perfect face and breaking her nose, maybe a couple of teeth. She hoped Ms. Cramigla tried to see through on her threat of trying to ruin her. She would be in for a big surprise. The reputation she had built at Exotic would hold. She wasn’t anyone’s pushover. Making a mental note to place a few phone calls Shay went out the door into the store.

Memorable Line
A line that stays with you long after you have read it and still makes you feel the emotion it invoked. I love books that give me that feeling. Give me that line that I have to share. Not every book has it but those that do are reader gold. (For more on what in my opinion is Reader Gold go here). Those books are keepers.
In the book I was reading the other day I came across a line that was reader gold. In that one line the author portrayed what their whole book was about. Gave me what the character was all about. It was so awesome that it made me get that tingle I usually get when I find a reader gold. The book went on my keeper shelf.
To be able to portray all that in just a line is so great. It is something I strive for as an author. Writing a book that leaves a lasting impression. Make the reader remember long after they close that book. Making a story memorable… one line at a time.

Missed it and Novel Notebooks
As mentioned above I’ve been going through my files. Well actually my whole office. Been checking though my file cabinets, bookcases and all that. My pile of notebooks I mentioned a few days ago got me in the mind frame to go through my files. With all the organization I’ve found a bunch of what I like to call “novel notebooks” for various books I’ve written. Also found the novel notebooks for ideas still to be written. My “novel notebooks” are actually a binder that includes all my notes, outlines, character info, notebooks (which fit in binder) and all the other info on my books. This is something I’ve been doing for years actually since I was a child and made up my own fairytales. Of course as I have gotten older and more into writing it has evolved. It helps me get ideas down. As previously mentioned I walk with a notebook so if I get ideas I can write it down. Anyway finding my novel notebooks is like a treasure throve. It was fun revisiting stories and seeing ideas for those unwritten.
I’m going through the unwritten stories for my various novel notebooks and organizing them for future use. Will also be taking a look at my computer files. Have to work out my writing calendar for next year and beyond. Let the organization commence.
I also have some news that I haven’t announced yet but will shortly. (wink)

Snippet Saturday - In Betweens
Today’s snippet theme is In Betweens.

Don't End
It made me think about what happened after the end. I wanted to know more about the characters, their friends and the world they love in. They made me care to know what comes after the end. What happened to them as a couple? What about their friends, what is their story? Will their friends have a story to? Will their neighbor get their own happily ever after? So on and so on. The story did end satisfyingly with all the loose ends rapped up however I was so engaged with the book I wanted it to continue. This is why I love series that continue in the same world and/or with the same characters. Series where you get a chance to see characters from previous books and how they evolve.
Even now a week later I think about the book and wonder what happens next. I love books that create this feeling. Make me long to read more. It is a gift when you are so capture by a story. This is the feeling writers strive for. The feeling I strive for in my own books. From some of the emails I receive/d on my books I have achieved it. This book got it and I was glad I had a chance to read it. Even though it did end. (grin) I’m on the lookout for my next book I don’t want to end. So share some of the books you’ve read that you didn’t want to end. Give me details.

Snippet Saturday - Last Loves
Today’s snippet theme is Last Loves. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Lay me Down…
Rotating her hips, Syn let the music sweep her away. Raising her hands over her head, she grooved by herself, people a little distance away. When she had arrived at the club, she had been taken aback by some of the people in costume. Until Jian had reminded her it was Halloween, she’d forgotten what day it was. Some of the costumes were elaborate. Syn was in awe at the detailing of some of the costumes. She watched as the Boogie Man twirled the Faery he was holding.
Across the room, Jian danced against some guy dressed as a Weretiger. The man was breathing hard and having a difficult time keeping up. Other men elbowed each other, trying to get close to her. Jian ignored them and continued to dance with the partner she’d chosen. Shaking her head, Syn reinforced her stay-away spell. Suddenly, she stopped arrested by the man across the room.
From where Syn stood she scanned his long locks. He’d pulled them into a ponytail that fell down his back. His sun-kissed features were chiselled masculine perfection. He wasn’t in costume. His slim muscular frame was covered in a dark purple almost black shirt and tight slacks made her mouth water for a bite. It wasn’t his face or body that caught her. It was his eyes.
With her keen sight she saw they were rich lavender offset by curling lashes. They should have made him seem feminine but they only enhanced his maleness as he leaned against the wall. He continued to stare, his intense gaze never wavering.
Intrigued, Syn started to dance again. Rolling her hips gently, she watched his eyes. They remained locked to hers. He smiled, a seductive twist of his luscious lips. Syn felt a delicious tightening of her body she hadn’t felt in a long time. Continuing to watch him she moved seductively waiting to see what he would do.
I knew she’d come.
Micah had been restless earlier and come to the main floor of the club. After checking with the managers, he had circulated among the diners, making sure they were having a good time. Everything was going well. Normally, he would have returned to his office. Instead, he’d continued to the dancing area in the back.
When he’d opened the door he’d been blasted by the music blaring through the open doors leading into the soundproofed area. He’d stopped, pleased at the turn out to Club Immortality’s annual Halloween Party, then gone inside to check around. He’d spoken with Zayne, the club’s manager, who’d assured Micah everything was under control. Micah had a lot of work to do, but still he lingered, helping out behind the bar.
He’d sensed her as soon as she came in, although he hadn’t seen her. She’d swept over his consciousness with a heated touch of fire. Leaving the bar, he’d gone to the far side of the room and waited for her to appear. Bodies swayed on the floor in time with the throbbing music provided by the live band. It had taken a while before she was revealed. Thankfully, he was a patient man. When he finally saw her, she’d taken his breath away.
Now, he looked across the room at woman dancing so enticingly. She was a tall sensual goddess.
Her honey-toned skin glistened with a light sheen of sweat while her high sculptured cheeks beckoned him to cross the room and take a nibble. Her luscious lips tantalised him to get a taste. His mouth watered as he took in the way her bountiful breasts rose in her snug, black T-shirt. Her lush, jean-clad hips hypnotized him. Micah wet his suddenly dry lips and looked at her long legs, imagining how they’d feel wrapped around him as he drove deep within her hot, wet canal.
He’d enjoyed watching her dance. With his connection to the club it gave him a better ability to view all she or any of his patrons did. When she’d turned and looked at him he had been captured by her amber gaze. She’d stilled when she saw him before dancing in a way that enticed him.
Her confidence intoxicated him.
Her sensuality was an aphrodisiac.
Though she didn’t know it yet, she belonged to him. Their meeting had been preordained yet he hadn’t known when she would come. Moving from the wall, he walked purposefully across the floor. He ignored everything around him. He had one goal—her. Her chest rose and fell as he drew closer. Finally standing before her, he raised his hands and met hers with his, twining their fingers together.
He undulated his hips in time with hers and let her feel his hardened shaft. They hissed simultaneously at the first touch. Bringing up her arms and placing them around his neck, he put his face close to her neck and inhaled her scent. She smelled like sin and sex. The scent of her arousal gripped him. His cock hardened and lengthened even more. Running his hands along her forearms, then down her sides, he felt her quiver. He continued the path to her waist and cupped her lush hips.
She sighed and moved her body closer. Squeezing her firm butt, he dragged her against his raging erection. A growl echoed from her making her breasts rub against his chest. Her nipples beaded against his chest, feeling wonderful. In her low heeled boots she perfectly matched his height of six-four. Taking another deep breath, he drew back his head and looked into her compelling amber gaze.
She smiled.
The heat in her gaze made his cock pulse. He wanted to bury it deep inside of her. Keeping his gaze locked with hers, he leaned in and kissed her.
Soft and slow.
Once.
Twice.
Then a third time.
She blinked then her arms tightened around his neck and she dragged him to her. She suckled his lips and their tongues clashed. Micah murmured and drew her closer, letting her hunger sweep him away.

The misty rain brings to mind the softness of a kiss or the blush of first love.
Lost and Adrift
The soaking rain with the wind blowing you to and forth batters at you like that moment when all seems lost in a relationship you put your all into. Everything you are yet it seems as if all is lost and there is no middle ground.
Resonate in the Soul
The deluge of rain with thunder and lightning resonates in the soul just like that moment when you know that person is forever yours. They are the one for you. The tumultuous emotions makes your soul sing.
Aftermath
As the rain slows and the rainbow comes out reminds you that you know all will be right. No matter what happen you will be stronger than yesterday.
There are so many more variations of rains I could explore. So much that the sounds of rain bring out in me. No matter what I experience I can compare it to the variety of rain. The next time wherever you are take a moment to appreciate the sound, scent and overall feel of rain. Let it wash over you with the many emotions of rain.

Snippet Saturday – First Loves
Today’s snippet theme is First Loves. Enjoy a look from one of my books.
An snippet from Body Cravings…
Glancing at her desk, her gaze landed on the calendar. Gasping, Amara noted the date. She hadn’t realized today was the day.
A shaft of sorrow filled her. Absently, she rubbed her hand over her heart as she wondered when the pain would fade. It had been over three years since those last hurtful words justifying his actions had been aimed at her by her fiancé Kevin.
“You’re lousy in bed and that’s why I had to get my needs filled elsewhere.” She had thrown him out as his last insult was hurled. “No man wants to get frostbite in bed. Call me when you melt.”
At that moment, with all her contempt, she had wished him dead. She had hated him with every fiber of her being.
“Amara, are you okay?” Jacques asked with concern in his voice.
Pushing back the memories, she nodded and glanced up at him, smiling. She didn’t think it was very convincing but he watched her a moment before returning his attention back to the sheaf of papers.
Holding herself very still she tried to stop the memories, but they overwhelmed her. Hours after their last words, when the police came to tell her of his death, she hadn’t wanted to believe. They said the crash had happened less than two miles from her house. Since he had no family and she was listed as his next of kin, she had gone to the morgue to identify him. The sight of his lifeless body made all the pain and self-doubt rush to consume her. She had pushed it aside to plan his burial.
At his funeral, which she paid for, she learned the truth of his duplicity. A woman approached her, spraying venomously that Amara had killed him with her selfishness. Amara had no idea what she meant. She had thought Kevin was happy, that they were in love. The woman pulled a little boy forward who was the exact image of Kevin, and proceeded to tell the child to study the woman who’d killed his and his unborn sister’s daddy. A glance at the little boy, who appeared to be no more than three years old, and the sight of the woman’s enlarged belly made Amara realized that Kevin had been cheating a long time. Maybe Kevin had been right, she had driven him to cheat. She couldn’t believe she hadn’t known.
The whispers and titters around the room had increased as the woman’s ranting escalated. Amara had been too numb to even think or move. Dominique Rule, her friend, led her away to a private room. Imani, her sister, joined them and tried to help console her. The room quickly filled with friends, old family friends and various Trescott Cove residents that she knew, who wanted to know if she was okay. Her other friends Sienna Zain and Hunter Willis quickly came and cleared the room of all the people who cared but at that point were too much to take. She didn’t need their concern or pitying glances. The incident had killed whatever love she’d had for Kevin and the guilt she felt.
Coming back to the present, Amara watched Jacques engrossed in the contracts he was reading. Something had always held her back from real fulfillment or entanglements and she never realized what it was, at least until now. Silently she admitted she still hadn’t fully gotten over what Kevin had said about her. She had tried one-night stands and they had only left her empty. It had been over a year since she had been with a man and hadn’t had any serious connections since Kevin.
You should leave well enough alone. You’re successful, have a great home and are happy with your life as it is, Amara thought.
Happy? Are you really happy? her inner voice asked.
Amara jumped when Jacques spoke.
“Thanks for all your work on this.” Jacques signed the papers and stood.
Pushing aside the thoughts, she focused on business. Standing quickly, she put out her hand. Jacques accepted it in a firm grip. Goosebumps raised along her skin. Biting her lip, she cursed her attraction to him.
Jacques spoke again. “Sampson was correct about your discretion ... and tenacity.”
Pleased with his compliment, Amara came around her desk to escort him out. “Thank you. Congratulations on acquiring Tevron Corp. I’ll forward the copies to you at Falcone International in Milan and give Sampson the original when he returns.” At the door, she waited for him to step through and leave.
Jacques stopped and studied her, an unfathomable expression on his face. “Amara, I want to give you a gift for all of your hard work. What do you want?”
The words tumbled out before she could even think about them. “I want you naked on a chair and ready to do whatever I want.”
