Building Memories
For the first part of my vacation, I took it with my family that is by choice. Over the years, I’ve become very close to a friend who along with her siblings have become family to me. We took a seven-day cruise to Hawaii. It was wonderful. The sights of Hawaii are something that I will never forget. The food was great especially the fruit. But it’s the camaraderie and fun I had with my family by choice that made this trip what it was. It wouldn’t have been as wonderful without them there with me. So I added more memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
The second part of my trip I went home. No matter where I live now I will always call where I was originally born —home. I went to spend the holidays with my family by blood. Whenever I fly into St. Thomas (where I was born and raised), I get a little teary-eyed. As I mentioned it was coming home. As I landed, I was irritated from a bad plane ride for my trip but eager and excited to see my family. This trip was special because it was the first time in a long time I was home for Christmas. I yelled that too. I love being home for the holidays. There is nothing like a Christmas at home. I’ve had such an awesome time and again made some memories that will last me the rest of my life.
I’ve talked many times about memories and appreciating them. This trip was chock full of moments that are now memories that I took time to enjoy. For this holiday season, I built memories.

Between the Covers - Taken by You
Here is a excerpt from Taken by You (Zander Oaks, Book # 1). Enjoy.
With impatient strides, she walked across the yard to the stables. Opening the side door, she walked to Indigo’s stall. She was surprised it was empty. A sound came from around the corner. Following the sound, she stopped. Her heart raced while her pussy flooded with wetness. Silken, sweat-soaked, sun-kissed skin moved as Jonas threw hay back and forth. He stopped and wiped his forehead. Suddenly, he stiffened and glanced back. Pale gray eyes impaled her. Mouth dry, Lexi tried to remember how to speak.
He turned to face her, and she clenched her fist as she hungrily took in his bare muscular chest. His nipples were a cherry brown. His muscles were full ridges along his ribs, and his stomach was flat. She wanted to lick his navel and nibble upward to suck his nipples.
“Lex, the horses are outside.” His tone was sharp, capturing her attention.
She met his eyes and saw the sheen of disgust there. Ashamed of her ogling him Lexi stiffened, raised her head and gave him a cold look in return.
“What’re you doing here? I saw your truck going to town.”
“I lent it to somebody.” He shrugged, making his muscles ripple.
She nodded and turned. A barely discernible whisper reached her. Unable to believe what she’d heard, she turned back to face him. Lexi strode forward until she was a hairsbreadth from him.
“What did you say?”
“You should never look at any man like that.” Jonas looked her in the eyes, a challenge on his face.
Fury filled her, but she held it down. “First of all, Coulter, you don’t have any say in what I do.”
“This isn’t about—”
She cut him off. “Coulter, you are out of line.” She poked him in the chest after each word.
His eyes narrowed in reaction.
“Don’t you ever talk to me like that again, or I’ll blacken your eye,” she said. “Do you understand me?” Lexi put her hands on her hips.
“Yes, ma’am,” Jonas replied between clenched teeth.
Lexi glared at him, and then turned to leave.
“Stop looking at me with your hungry eyes.” His voice was silken.
Rage bubbled up in her, overcoming her sense. Turning, Lexi slapped him. She regretted it even before the sound of her hand meeting his flesh had faded from the air. His eyes went glittery with anger and purpose. Fear swelled inside Lexi, and she turned and ran out the door. Rounding the corner, she saw the open door leading outside. Reaching it, she gasped, then screamed as hard arms grabbed her around the waist, wrenching her back inside. The door slammed, and she was jerked backward. Squirming, she scratched at his hands and fought to get free.
Suddenly, she was spun around, and her back hit the wood. She felt the rails and knew she was just inside the doorway of one of the rooms the hands used to sleep in when needed. A hard body pressed against hers. Lexi glanced into furious gray eyes.
“Let me go!” she demanded.
“When I’m ready.” His look was arrogant.
He swooped down and covered her lips with his. Lexi stilled, expecting an assault. Instead, he unraveled her with a tender, sensual teasing of her senses. His tongue swept along her lips, seeking entrance. She gasped, slamming her eyes closed, and he took advantage, stroking his tongue into her mouth. His taste rolled over her. It was sweet, musky, and all man. His arms caged her as his body pressed against hers.

Between the Covers - Dark Callings
Here is a excerpt from Dark Callings (Phoenix Intelligence Agency, Book # 3). Enjoy.
"Only to you. We all trust you, Lennox." Harmony's tone was gentle.
"Then you all are fools," he said coolly.
"Don't get snappish at me." Harmony's reply was mild.
"I did no such thing."
"You didn't raise your voice, but I know the levels of that cool tone you use on people-”the one that clearly gives away your moods. That was a snap. Don't do it again." There was a clear warning in her voice.
Lennox frowned. That she knew him so well surprised and ticked him off. He didn't appreciate Harmony being so insightful.

Weekly Wrap-Up – Busy week & Upcoming Release…
I just posted my cover for my upcoming series. Will post it here tomorrow. Here is some details for the series.
I'm excited to announce a new contemporary romance series that will be coming in December 2015. This will be my first foray into self publishing! I'm so excited to start this series. The contemporary romance series Zander Oaks is takes place in fictional medium-sized city also called by the name of the series, Zander Oaks, in Texas. As many of you know I love to build communities and set books within them. You get to know and become part of the people as well as places. The first book in series is a re-release of a story that I wrote as an exclusive read that was only available in yahoo groups. The first book has the same title but I did change the name of the town the book was originally set in. Only the first book in the series is a re-release. After that book the rest of the books in series will be feature characters that appeared in the first book as well as those that will be in other books as the series progresses. I will be publishing the 1st 3 titles this month. One each week. I look forward to taking you on the adventure of my new series. Enjoy the sneak peek of the book.
Very excited about my upcoming release.
That's my wrap-up for the week. :)

Between the Covers - Power of Enticement
Here is a excerpt from Power of Enticement (Blackstone Haven, Book # 3). Enjoy.
He stroked his finger down one high cheekbone to the corner of her full lips but stopped before touching them. He wanted to but he resisted, knowing he’d need his head about him when dealing with a woman who had changed his world in moments with her appearance. He moved his hand to the end of her ponytail, which rested over her shoulder and curled to just below her waist. He fingered the edges of her hair rubbing his hands over the hair tie he’d put on. Grayson looked down at what he was doing. She placed her hand over his, running her finger along the knuckle of his thumb.
“Getting to know, huh?” Grayson leaned closer. “Are you a cuddler?”
Savage lifted an eyebrow at her question. “That’s something you will find out…eventually.” He released her braid then gestured to her cup. “Now drink your tea while you tell me where you heard about shadow mates.”
Grayson picked up her cup, blew on the tea then took a sip before she answered. “I get around.”
“Grayson.”
“Ohhh…how you say my name gives me chills.” Grayson batted her eyelashes. “Say it again but make your voice deeper like so… Grayson.”
“You are going to be a handful.” Savage fought not to laugh. “Stop avoiding and tell me what you know about shadow mate.”
“I’m going to be much more than a handful.” Grayson took another sip of her tea then glanced at him. “Now for what you want to know. When I left here after Peyton fought with the death that stalks us”—she leaned her head to the side—“I assume you know about the family legend and so on?”
“Yes. Wesley and Ian filled us in on the basics,” he said. Wesley was mate to Peyton and Ian to Sinai, two of Grayson’s sisters. “You will fill me in on what I need to know later.” Savage paused then narrowed his eyes. “You think you’re going to be taken next by this demon?”

Between the Covers - More Than Temptation
Here is a excerpt from More Than Temptation (Singleton, Book # 3). Enjoy.
Bella waited until he did before she walked closer to the man. “Tasty Devil? I’ve never had it. What’s it taste like?”
“A devilish delight.” The man turned to her. “Strawberry and coconut heaven.”
“Hmmm… My favorite is the Angel Dream.” Bella opened her bag before she took out one of the wrapped candies then held it out. “Has coconut but not strawberry. It’s coconut with pecan, dipped in white chocolate. Tastes delicious.”
“Thank you.” The man took it. “I’ve never tried it. But I will.” He palmed it then held out his hand. “Morgan James.”
“Nice to meet you, Morgan.” Bella slid her hand into his.
Morgan held onto her hand and studied her. Bella didn’t try to get loose, instead waiting to see what he would do. She would be a willing participant in whatever he wanted.
“I have a good life. Nice, settled, and I don’t need any complications. And you have complication written all over you,” Morgan said.
“Really?” Bella glanced down at her orange T-shirt, black jeans and boots then back at him. She chuckled then smiled widely. “I don’t see it, but maybe you can see with your super sight. Well, Mr Morgan James, if you ever decide that you want to get to know complicated ole me, look me up at the supper club I work at.” She stroked her finger along the back of his then slowly disentangled from him. “Nice meeting you.”
She pivoted then walked away.

Stronger Than Yesterday – Times Three
When they did I knew what I had to do. Make an announcement of who I am. Let people know the parts that make me who I am. :) First I reached out to a few people who are friends to let them know the truth about me. I have many friends I wasn’t able to tell directly and like many of you they are reading this post. For that I’m sorry that it couldn’t be a more personal one on one but I need to get this done.
The below that I am sharing with you is hard for me. For people who know me they know I’m a private person and although I do share things about my many ups and downs in my personal life I’m vague and not as detailed as I could be since there is so much more. I keep these things close and only tell close friends and family (sometimes I don’t even tell them. I hate people worrying about me so I keep it and deal with stuff).
Now for the reveal. I currently write under three pen names. Let me introduce you to my threesome. I’m going to do this one by one and also include blog posts that defined me on my journey to three.
First is McKenna Jeffries – she is my sensual, sassy pen name. She is the misbehavior maker. :) She was also my first pseudonym and writes books that feature male/female characters. A little about her. She has been writing longer than all the other names. She has been writing and working her craft. Had opportunities and ups and downs. It took a brush with almost dying that made her take the jump to actually finish her first book. She completed her first book and shared her triumph of that as well as others with her biggest supported her Mom. She also had more books that didn’t fit with what she was writing at the time so she decided on a 2nd pen name. But back in 2005 she had many things happen. She became, along with her other name, more active in the writing world (got a blog and so on). But that year was a hard year with the most devastating moment being the loss of her mother. This put her in crisis with her writing and she was tempted to walk away from it all. But then the 2nd pen name became vocal. And it wasn’t until a little before this post that I finally let her loose.
http://mckennajeffries.com/blog/2005/12/12/the-scent-of-mama%e2%80%99s-cooking
When McKenna wrote this she was ready to continue that journey her Mom had seen her start. So she took the chance and let her next pen name free on the world with a submission of her work which was accepted.
My second is Taige Crenshaw – she is my sizzling, sassy and adventurous pen name. She is the mayhem maker. :) She writes books that feature male/female characters. She had her up and downs too and she too along with McKenna had other moments of triumph and personal struggle. One of which gave her and McKenna the push to take the leap and decide to get a 3rd pen name. That 3rd name came because of the moment I had when I wrote this blog.
http://taigecrenshaw.com/blog/2007/02/03/stronger-than-yesterday/
But just because I decided to take a leap I didn’t get to right away. I had more to face first. More personal things. Those I spoke of here.
http://taigecrenshaw.com/blog/2010/01/22/the-road-traveled/
Then I took the leap.
My third is Talia Carmichael – she fills the craving and has spice, laughter and loads of fun with that pen name. She is the mischief maker. :) When I choose this one I also wanted to honor my mother so for Talia I gave her my Mom’s birth date. So each year when I get the birthday wishes I kiss my fingers and raise them to the sky and tell my Mom they are for her. When I completed my first McKenna book my Mom told me before she passed away “I can’t read what you write because it is to risqué for me but you write it baby and write it well. Don’t let anyone stop you. Follow your journey.” Talia writes books that feature male/male characters. She too along with her other 2 partner have had many up and downs over the years. This I spoke of here.
http://taliacarmichael.com/blog/2015/10/25/journey-to-better
So this is my three. Hi my name is McKenna Jeffries, Taige Crenshaw, and Talia Carmichael. Nice to finally show you all three of me.
I choose to have three pen names for many reasons but one of the main ones is.…expectations. I didn’t want a reader to have an expectation of what a book would be by knowing all the sides that are me. So at the time I choose the pen name I didn’t let people except for some close friends know they were all the same. I wanted each to take words my Mom told me all those years ago “Follow your journey.” Each name has their own writing journey since I kept them separate and they have in my humble opinion done well. Written books they are proud off. When someone picks up a book by any of my names they know what they are getting. Every time I write a book it is for my Mom. She was one of my biggest supporters and because of her I continue this journey.
There is one common theme in my books no matter the name I write under. Family whether by blood or choice is important. They are what makes us and will be by your side no matter what. This was taught to me by my own upbringing.
I made this announcement for the reasons of my epiphany and also because I want to be able to meet readers under each name. I do go to conferences usually as Taige (told you she was adventurous although she tends to go to the corner often because she is shy and feels like a total geek talking about her books). Although I’m making this announcement, I don’t have a plan to “officially” link the names. Well McKenna and Taige sometime write together. Which is interesting and works. :) Yeah each of my three names are very distinct in my head when I sit down to write a book so I know whose voice I’m in when I’m writing. :) . I still will keep the names separate to an extent. They all have their own website, newsletter lists, facebook, facebook groups, twitter and so on. Yeah I do all three. LOL. So if you read any of my books just find me at those places based on the different pen names. :)
The timing of this with what is going on in the writing world isn’t ideal but I already made the decision to do so went ahead instead of waiting. Thank you so much for your support over the years.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I also put this on facebook so those who don't come to my blog can also read it.
Love always,
McKenna/Taige/Talia

Between the Covers - Devi
Here is a few lines from Devi (Kemet Uncovered, Book # 2). Enjoy.
The following afternoon, Devi lay in her hammock, enjoying the idyllic day. Her doorbell chimed and she sighed, reluctant to get up.
“It’s open,” she called out.
The familiar masculine scent that had surrounded Rhodes told her who it was before he’d even made it through the house. Turning her head, she watched him step out onto the patio.
“Kind of dangerous, don’t you think, just inviting people in without knowing who it is?” he asked, giving her a disapproving look before putting a bouquet of flowers on the table.
She almost laughed at that, but smothered it. He was concerned about her. How cute.
Today, Rhodes wore khaki slacks and a dark blue polo-necked shirt. Licking her lips, she swung her legs over and got up from the comfort of her hammock. He glanced at her and swallowed. Hard.
She knew it was her outfit. Cream-coloured gauze woven with gold threads made up her halter-top dress with its deep V-neck. Although the material reached the floor, slits in the skirt ran up to the tops of her thighs. With each step she took, one leg flashed through. And she knew it looked good on her—hell, it had been made just for her.
“Cat got your tongue, Rhodes?”
His forehead had a sheen of sweat on it.
“No. That’s… It’s… Damn.”
“I take it that’s a good thing,” she said with an assured smile.
“Oh, yeah,” he rumbled. He flexed his fingers like he wanted to grab her.
“Thank you.”
He had to tear his gaze away from her nearly exposed chest. “What for?”
“The flowers. They’re beautiful.”
He acted as if he’d forgotten he’d even brought them. “You’re welcome,” he muttered, his gaze on her.
“Something I can do for you, Rhodes?”
“I came to ask you to dinner.” His voice still not as smooth as it had been.
“You didn’t call.”
“I wanted to see you.” His eyes burnt feverishly. “Luckily, I’m a resourceful man—you didn’t give me much to go on.”
“You are that. I knew you’d find me if you wished to see me.”
Warmth surrounded her at his admission. “I’ll go get changed.” She moved past him and headed towards the sliding door, then paused and glanced back over her left shoulder. “A little help?”
He approached and stood behind her. His size made her feel dainty and protected. Without a word, she moved her hair out of the way. Her skin tingled from the light brush of his fingertips as he undid the bow holding up her dress.
“There you go,” he whispered in her ear, his breath teasing her skin.
“Be right back.”
She let go of her hair and it swung back into place, covering her to the small of her back. He gasped as she left him there, in between indoors and out. Alone except for her dress, which had pooled at his feet.

Between the Covers – Power of Instinct
Here is a excerpt from Power of Instinct (Blackstone Haven, Book # 2). Enjoy.
“Ian!” she screamed.
“No need to shout. I’m in here.” Ian’s voice came from her living room.
“What is Einstein doing with McGee and Reid? Heck, what is your whole animal farm doing with them? You—” Sinai stepped into the living room, then stopped.
She walked over and examined the big screen TV that took up the whole wall between her two bay windows. There was a lot of space between them, meaning that was a whole lot of TV. She had heard tales of Ian’s TV from her various family members and friends who went to his house to watch games or a movie. Sinai took a breath, trying to be calm.
“What’s going on?” she asked slowly as she turned to Ian.
He was leaning back on her couch, his arms behind his head and his crossed legs extended before him. Her gaze dropped, taking in how his jeans cupped his cock and encased his legs. Heat flooded her. She shifted.
“Since I’m moving in until after your birthday, I’ll need my things.”
Sinai blinked, sure she had heard him wrong. She shook her head. Ian nodded, a smug smile on his face.
“Hell, no!” Sinai roared.
She smacked away the soap. Ian’s hand flashed up, and he caught it. He stood in a lazy motion then walked in a loose-legged gait. Sinai’s heart started to race. She felt as if she was being stalked. She stood her ground as Ian walked right up to her.
He leant down and said softly, “Don’t test me, Nai.”
“You’re not moving in here. It’s not necessary,” she insisted.
Ian’s eyes dilated, then he said in a low tone, “Are you challenging me?”
Sinai raised her head. “On this I am.”

Ink Motions with Olivia Night
Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Seduction series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, runs, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.
Ink Motions - Interview
How do you get an idea for your novel?
The idea and characters for my first book quite literally popped into my head one night when I couldn’t sleep. As I wrote the book two other characters came forward and I began to write their stories down.
The idea for my second series, book one, came to me while I was cleaning and listening to Billy Joel’s And So It Goes. The song is incredibly sad and it made me ponder real loss and how painful that is. The characters who had experienced this kind of loss came to me and I sat down immediately and wrote down as much as I could. As I wrote those first thirty pages three others ladies with loss in their past came forward and they will have books too.
What is your writing style? Do you just sit down and write or do you create.
Typically, the ideas just come to me. After I think over things for a day or two I will sit down and outline the story. Sometimes I leave things blank and come back to it later. But for the most part I can outline the whole book in one sitting.
How many novels have you written including all work in progresses you are currently working on?
I have one published, Seduction in Sierra Leone, one that will be published this winter, Seduction in Seville and I am currently writing the third and finale installment in the series, Seduction in Scotland. I am also working on a new series and have written about five chapters in the first book and have outlined the three other books in that series as well.
What is you favorite plot line type?
Suspense of course!
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Don’t give up! Keep writing!
What is a good villain?
Someone that brings out emotion in the reader. This can be fear, frustration, anger and even sympathy.
An excerpt
Together, they watched the truck, a far better model than either had seen in their time here, tip and tilt as four men emerged. Aislinn couldn’t see any of them very well, though she could tell they were all very large, muscular men, all in different ways. One was short and squat, and one was short and lean and looked as though he really needed to eat. The other two were tall. Those two were muscular and looked more dangerous than the others. Perhaps it was the serious look on their faces, as if they had never smiled. But one was more muscular than the others. He was the tallest in the group. And he was really, really easy on the eyes. And as if he sensed her watching him—okay, staring—he turned his head and looked directly over at her.
His face was blank, his eyes unblinking. He looked across the short distance at Aislinn, apparently not even noticing that Geoff was standing in front of her. From the distance between them, his eyes seemed to be charcoal gray, a color she had never seen on a person. Animals yes, people no. His skin was tanned, and there was a slight sheen of sweat, giving him a sort of healthy glow. His dark black hair was cut short, but not in a military fashion that had that silly flat surface at the top. No, there was just enough to run her fingers through. His legs were huge, like tree trunks that made their way up to a tapered and slim waist. His chest flared back out to meet his thick neck. Veins stood out on his arms as he picked a bag up from inside the car, all the while staring at her. She fixed her eyes shamelessly at his full lips that were a dark pink, a color you normally didn’t see on a man. His nose had been broken before, judging by the uneven placement on his face. The rest of his face was perfect. Perfect angles, perfect mouth, perfect eyes.
She came back to his eyes and realized she had just, very slowly, given this stranger a full-body perusal. He didn’t offer a nod, or any other type of greeting; he just kept looking at her. She felt herself blush. And then, suddenly, he turned. Brima, the town elder, was approaching the men—quickly for an old man—with a broad smile on his face. Brima rubbed the man’s chin, a traditional Mende greeting, and, as was customary, the man did not return the gesture as a symbol of acquiescence to the elder. Then they both smiled and shook hands. The muted tones of their conversation drifted over to her as they walked to the elder’s home farther up the path, leading away from the road.

Between the Covers - Perfect Fit
Here is a excerpt from Perfect Fit (Singleton, Book # 2). Enjoy.
Regina put down her cup and stood. She strolled towards him, moving with an innate rhythm he’d always found so intoxicating. She stepped into him, pressing close. Automatically, he placed his hands on her hips.
“Had a nice sleep, Spencer.”
Although it wasn’t a question, he answered. “Yes.” He cleared his throat. “It was very restful.”
“I bet.” She studied him, then smiled. “After the show you had.”
Spencer flushed with need. “You knew I was there,” he accused.
“Yes.” Regina straightened his tie. “You said no sex, but nothing about seduction.” She patted his chest. “I like that. I’m good at it.” She rocked against him.
Spencer groaned as she moved on his erection. “Behave, Reggie.”
“You forgot ‘mis’. I’m going to behave, all right. Misbehave. I want you back in my life all the way. Not this partial way with all these rules.” Regina moved her hips again and placed her face close to his, whispering almost on his lips, “Holding out for some belief of being comfortable together is a moot point. I’ve been comfortable with you from the time we met. And even if you deny it, so have you.” She placed her palm flat on his chest, over his heart. “I know your heart and soul. And most assuredly, your body. I know what makes you shiver.”
Spencer shivered.
“What makes you groan just so.” She widened her legs and rotated.
Spencer groaned, shaking.
“And that you belong to me.” Regina grabbed his hair holding him still, her green gaze fierce. “Mine, Spence.”
She slid her hand into his hair, held him firmly and kissed him. Spencer opened wide, moaning. Regina pushed her tongue into his mouth, moving along his, stroking. Spencer gripped her hips, cupping her ass and pulling her against him. He returned her kiss with equal hunger, grunting as she rocked against him. Spencer shuddered, about ready to come in his pants. Regina wrenched away, pulling out of his hold and he stepped forward to get her back.
“Whoa, there.” She put her hand on his chest. “I made my first move. Now it’s your turn to decide what you truly want.” She stepped back, grabbed her purse and briefcase off the stool from by the kitchen island then headed past him. She touched his ass as she did, then said by his ear, “I’m looking forward to our pillow buying excursion.”
Regina chuckled as she left the room. In moments, he heard the front door close. Spencer went to the island and sat, putting his hand on the counter, then under his chin. He slumped forward.
“Damn. I really am screwed.” Spencer rubbed his hands over his eyes then lowered it as he thought of her parting words. The pillow shopping was going to be hell. Not the buying, but what came with it after.
“So screwed.” Spencer rose and went to the door to go to work.

Ink Motions with Celia Aaron
Celia Aaron is, by necessity, a pseudonym. This is because I am a fine, upstanding legal professional by day and a dark and dirty author by night. I formerly spent my days prosecuting bad boys and locking them up. Now, I'm in private practice, though there are still plenty of bad boys -- camouflaged by suits and ties -- to fantasize over and write about. I intend to add some of these suited lady killers to my cast of characters in the near future.

Ink Motions - Interview
How do you get an idea for your novel?
Depends. Sometimes I just have a thought or see something that makes me create a little story in my mind.
What is your writing style? Do you just sit down and write or do you create a timeline?
I'm a hybrid. I have a general outline, but I'm mostly a pantser who makes it up as I go along.
Who is the "Writing Muse" in your life?
Good books. Books that I read and then go "holy shit, that was awesome." I don't pretend to think I can match the greatness, but it definitely makes me want to try.
How many novels have you written including all work in progresses you are
currently working on?
About six and a half.
Who is your "writing idol"? I.E. Who do you like and what is it about there writing that captures your soul?
I can't name just one. There are so many great storytellers out there who know the elements of a good yarn.
What is you favorite plot line type?
Beauty and the Beast.
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Make the time to write, even if it's only thirty minutes a day. Read a lot.
What is a good villain?
Someone who's the hero of their own story. Someone who is complex and isn't evil just to be evil.
Excerpt from Counsellor
I held my ground. He could hurt me, but I wouldn’t give him the benefit of my fear. I stared into him, past the blue and deeper, watching as they turned from anger to heat. The air in the room shifted, like an electrical current hummed between us.
All the concern that he’d walked in with was gone. He looked…hungry, as if the moon had emerged from behind a cloud and revealed him to be some sort of ravenous wolf.
His gaze traveled my face, my body. When heat erupted along my skin as if he’d touched me, I knew I was damned. To want the touch of the devil was nothing short of a mortal sin.
I struck him, my open palm whipping across his face with a satisfying slap. He didn’t retaliate, just tilted his head to the side until his neck popped in the most unnerving fashion. What had been fire in his eyes was now a raging inferno.
He advanced, only inches from me now. I pulled my hand back to strike him again, but he caught it, squeezing my wrist painfully. I tilted my chin up, meeting his vicious encroachment with defiance. He wouldn’t frighten me out of this space. It was mine. I didn’t care if the entire place was covered in fucking vines, I would slash and burn them until I’d cleared an area for me, my paint, my books, and my own bit of freedom.
Quick as an adder, he put his free hand to my face. I didn’t flinch, though I expected him to strike me. The heat in his gaze spoke of something explosive—violence or desire, maybe a heady mix of both. When his palm touched my skin, my eyes closed involuntarily.
“So soft.” His voice was tinged with wonder.
I was down the rabbit hole, everything topsy-turvy and wrong, because his touch—god, his touch. It was like I’d been starving for it this entire time but didn’t know it. When I opened my eyes, he leaned down, his lips teasing mine with the bare millimeters of distance. He was a gorgeous villain, a predator dressed up as a man.
I raised my unrestrained hand to hit him again, but he caught it, too, and wrenched both of them behind my back. He pressed me into his chest, caging me with his body. I could feel the blaze emanating from him, the desire like a heat wave. Could he feel mine? His gaze held me fast, furious and possessive. He looked at me like I was his. Not because of a contract, not because of the Acquisition, but because the intensity of his desire made it so. He would have what he wanted. His gaze flicked down to my mouth and he dipped his head lower, his breath grazing my lips.
I burned to destroy him, to leave him in flames as I walked away from the ashes. But first … just a kiss.
About the Book:
In the heart of Louisiana, the most powerful people in the South live behind elegant gates, mossy trees, and pleasant masks. Once every ten years, the pretense falls away and a tournament is held to determine who will rule them. The Acquisition is a crucible for the Southern nobility, a love letter written to a time when barbarism was enshrined as law.
Now, Sinclair Vinemont is in the running to claim the prize. There is only one way to win, and he has the key to do it — Stella Rousseau, his Acquisition. To save her father, Stella has agreed to become Sinclair’s slave for one year. Though she is at the mercy of the cold, treacherous Vinemont, Stella will not go willingly into darkness.
As Sinclair and Stella battle against each other and the clock, only one thing is certain: The Acquisition always ends in blood.

“Then get to know me. Be with me, Nia. The choice is yours. Next time you come by, plan on spending the night again. This time, bring a bag so you don’t have to rush away to get ready for work,” he said.
“That isn’t the reason I left,” she admitted.
“I know.” A small smiled curled his lips.
“You make me lose sense. I don’t like it,” she snarled.
“Ditto,” he countered.

His gaze went silver then crimson. “You’re wrong, Tashana. There will be no more you or me. There will only be us.”

Ink Motions with K.T. Black
Ink Motions - Interview
How did you get the idea for your novel?
There's an old lifetime movie I liked called The World's Oldest Living Bridesmaid. I did a variation on that theme and added in the paranormal element.
What is your writing style? Do you just sit down and write or do you create?
My life's been a bit crazy lately with starting a new day job and having to relocate, so my writing habits are a bit erratic at the moment. In general, I try to set aside at least an hour every day to sit down and write. When I'm good, I do at least 1,000 words.
Who is the "Writing Muse" in your life? I.E. who gets your juices flowing
Well, I don't really have just one "Writing Muse." All kinds of different things inspire me to write. Unusual people I meet, things that happen when I'm out and about, or a strange dream.
How many novels have you written including all work in progresses you are currently working on?
At the moment, I have two stories that are published. The Assistant (M/F), and my debut novella, Wicked Magic: Spellbound Book 1 (F/F), which is part of a series of modern fairy tales. Currently I am working on Book 2 of my Spellbound series. It’s called Strange Magic—a variation on Alice in Wonderland. At this point in time, I see at least one or two more books past that. Different fairy tales with a modern spin, but all the books will be linked together. The second book will elaborate further on just what direction I’m planning on taking the series. All the books will be contemporary full of witches, magic and some shape shifters, with the end game being a lesbian relationship established.
Who is your "writing idol"? I.E. Who do you like and what is it about their writing that captures your soul?
I give credit Daphne du Maurier, or more precisely, her novel Rebecca for influencing my writing. Her writing style, in this story, is vivid, poetic and somewhat dark. The main character starts out weak, but transforms over the story as she faces each challenge. What I found interesting is you never learn her actual name. She goes from working as a companion of an overbearing woman to a meek wife. Then she becomes known as Mrs. DeWinter throughout the story, always in the shadow of the first wife, Rebecca. She does discover her identity and power, but her name is never revealed. Quite inventive and effect.
What is your favorite plot line type?
I'm not certain how to actually classify it, but I like plotlines where the protagonist discovers they are more than they realized--have magical abilities, etc.--with a destiny to defeat the antagonist.
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Don’t give up. If writing is your passion, don’t let fear or other people talk you out of doing it. Rejection sucks, but when someone finally tells you yes, it makes it all worth it.
What is a good villain?
I think a good villain is someone that makes you both love and hate them. They're fun to write. Through those kinds of characters, I get to do and say things that I wish I could do in real life. Not hurt anyone, but to have the power to know someone wouldn't dare harass me.
Excerpt:
A half hour later, her coffee cup empty, Elise sat in her office staring off into space. Why did her thoughts manage to work their way back to Dylan Holt? The thing that bothered her the most about the man wasn’t that she disliked him, like everyone thought. What bothered her was how much she liked him.
Since Dylan started working for her, the energy in the office had altered. She felt something changing inside as well. Something that frightened her. Richard was the last person to make her feel like this. No, she shook her head. This was different, something much more intense. At the office, driving in traffic, in her home, sexy daydreams about her and Dylan consumed her thoughts. It felt like she was going through puberty again.
Pushing her folders aside, Elise leaned back in her chair and allowed her mind to wander.
* * * *
It was late. The building was vacant except for her and Dylan. Focused on computer work, she didn’t see or hear when Dylan entered her office. It’s only when she felt a pair of hands resting on top of her shoulders that she knew something had changed.
“What are you doing?” Elise protested, attempting to stand but remained seated, held in place by two strong hands.
“You work too hard.” Dylan’s voice was low, husky. “You need to learn how to relax.”
“But—”
When those hands began to knead her shoulders and neck, Elise stopped talking. Her eyes drooped, threatening to close as her body responded to Dylan’s touch.
“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
“Too b-busy.” As her muscles began to relax, that wasn’t all she felt. Arousal. She shifted in her seat when the throbbing between her legs become more pronounced, discovering how wet she was becoming. No, she needed to stop this now. “This isn’t—”
“Appropriate? No, maybe not, but necessary.”
“Mr. Holt.” The objection was weak. Elise knew it.
“I told you to call me Dylan. But, it does kind of turn me on to hear you say, Mr. Holt.” His tone was suggestive, full of naughty implications.
Elise shivered, a jolt of pleasure settled low in her belly, and her nipples tightened, responding to his touch.
“I know you like me, as much as you pretend to only tolerate me. Why won’t you admit it, Elise?”
“Don’t—”
“Don’t what? Don’t stop?” Dylan’s hands drifted downward. As he slipped inside the top of Elise’s blouse, he skimmed his fingertips across the top of plump flesh not covered by her bra. “I see how you look at me. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”

Between the Covers - Wilde Seduction
Here is a few lines from Wilde Seduction (Wilde, Book # 1). Enjoy.
Mia blinked as the realisation of what she had just seen filled her.
He just came out of stone. No way are gargoyles real. Her eyes narrowed, and she grinned.
The man stopped just before he reached her.
“Who put you up to this? Reggie? Yeah, it had to be her. She knows I loved the Gargoyles cartoon when it was on. Goliath was my favourite—that voice and his personality.” She shuddered lightly, then continued, “Great trick with the wings. Where did you ditch them? You didn’t have to get dressed on my account.”
The man looked at her. Suddenly, there was a loud whoosh, then wings spread behind him. His shirt disappeared and his sculpted muscular chest glistened in the sun. Mia stepped back again and gasped.

Ink Motions with Roslyn Bane
Ink Motions Blog
How do you get an idea for your novel?
At times I will see a person that catches my eye and I have the basics for a character. Other times I may overhear snippets of conversation and my imagination takes over. Local and national news events sometimes inspire story.
I try to put real life issues into my books; abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, loss of a loved one, and see how the characters respond to these stressors. I like to see people beat the odds.
My stories are based in small towns or smaller cities. Everything I am currently working on is planned as part of a series.
What is your writing style? Do you sit down and write or do you create?
Usually I wake up with an idea, and rush to get it down on paper. The longer I wait to put it down the more it changes. I don’t plot out in advance, and I don’t write from beginning to end. As different scenes and scenarios appear in my mind I put them down. I figure out the sequence later. Sometimes the same scenario will be written out several times with various twists and turns until it feels right. Usually the scenes first written end up near the middle of the book. The better I get to know my characters the faster the story develops.
Who is the “Writing Muse” in your life? Music helps me get motivated to write, and if often sets the tone for the character/scene I am working with.
How many novels have you written including all work in progress you are currently working on?
I have one complete novel and three under way, all in various stages of development and in different series.
Who is your writing idol?
That really depends on genre. For horror Stephen King and Edgar Allen Poe. The depth of the characters and scenes is amazing. King is excellent in describing his villain so well but still leaving just enough description out that the readers own imagination can finish filling in its appearance. For romance it depends on subgenre. I prefer contemporary romance and enjoy Nora Roberts, for romantic comedy I enjoy Misty Simon. In LGBT Romance I like Isabella and the depth of character she brings to her female heroines.
What is your favorite plot line?
My favorite plot line is pretty much that something horrible has happened to the heroine— it may have occurred years earlier or just recently. Whatever the timing it changes the heroine in ways that make her strong, independent and surprisingly vulnerable. I write romance so there is going to be a happy ever after, but the characters are going to have to acknowledge and confront their demons and weaknesses.
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Just start writing. Put your ideas down, you can refine them later. Make writing a priority, and find time to write every day, even if it’s only 50 words. Also read books on the craft of writing, join RWA, and your local chapter. If you don’t live close to a local chapter, join an online chapter. Take online courses on writing craft and go to conferences whenever possible.
What is a good villain?
My characters usually have to conquer their own internal conflict, so the villain within themselves is their most feared adversary.
Blurb
One woman has given up on love. One is trying to find her place in a new town. When their lives collide, they must find a way to put their pasts behind them and learn to trust and love again. Time for Terri is a great beginning to Roslyn Bane’s new contemporary romance series, Smoky Mountain Romance.
Terri Greene is a professional photographer who travels the world but calls the small town of Bryson City, NC home. She has made a nice life for herself and kept her painful past deeply buried. She has a reputation for being friendly but elusive. She hammered her heart shut years ago and has long since given up hope for a loving relationship.
Sheila McDevitt, a new arrival to town, has opened a veterinary practice and is determined to succeed in this close-knit community. Viewed as an outsider, she struggles to grow her practice. Unfinished business from her past causes difficulties with her current plans.
When these two women’s lives intersect the changes are unforeseeable. As trust grows and inner demons are tamed, can they see past their own busy professional lives and find success in the part of life that matters most.
EXCERPT
Terri accelerated the bike smoothly, when Sheila tightened her grip she was able to suppress her groan but not the quiver in her abdomen. The air was starting to chill as the sun drifted lower in the sky, long shadows crossing the road. She felt Sheila shiver. “Move close to me to stay warm. Let me know if you get too cold.” A moment later she felt Sheila lean into her, hold on tighter. Over the next twenty minutes she felt her occasionally squirm, felt her legs press slightly tighter around her own hips. Thirty minutes later they made the turn the turn to Terri’s house. “Hold on tight it’s really bumpy.” Terri drove the bike confidently up the steep bumpy road. Finally it leveled and she turned into her driveway. Stopping the bike she turned it off. Waited while Sheila got off, removed her helmet. She then swung off, and quickly removed her helmet. “Are you warm enough?”
“Yes. Now that the wind stopped. I’m fine.”
“Good.” She pulled Sheila towards her in a fierce, passionate kiss that had both of them breathless quickly. Lust raced through her body and her heart pounded. She tightened her arms around Sheila’s waist. Heard her own groan.
Sheila returned the kiss with fervent passion, her hands ran across the stiff leather. She desperately wanted to feel flesh. The kiss broke, Sheila nearly staggered. Terri took her hand pulled her to the porch. She backed Sheila up against the door frame, held her hands held above her head as their mouths met again.

Between the Covers - Talios
Here is a few lines from Talios (Kemet Uncovered, Book # 1). Enjoy.
The man rose from the lake like some mythical god. Water cascaded from his naked, sculptured body. He raised a strong-looking hand and ran blunt fingers through his shoulder-length, black hair. With confidence, he came out of the water. When he reached the shore, he didn’t break stride coming to her. A sudden feeling of being hunted came over her and she backed up, hitting a tree.
He stopped a little distance away from her. At five foot eleven, she didn’t usually feel short, but next to him she did. He was very tall—he had at least eight inches over her.
She studied him. His curly black hair framed an onyx-coloured face that was all planes and angles—broad forehead, high cheeks, full nose, firm chin and full lips. He was extremely handsome…but it was his presence that captivated her. There was a sense of strength yet gentleness about him.
She lowered her gaze. A golden chain hung at his neck, with an oblong pendant covered in symbols. Candace licked her lips at the sight of his broad chest and shoulders. The man made a slight rumbling sound. It snapped her out of her daze.

How do you get an idea for your novel?
I’ll have a character in mind and sometimes a few scenes, and if these threads stay with me for more than a day or two – where I can’t stop thinking about them – I’ll spend a week trying to develop them into actual narrative during my daily writing sessions. If the story grows in a way I like and other characters and plot elements come to light as I work, I’ll commit to writing the whole shebang into a novel. And I’ve led myself down the garden path more times than I can stand to think about!
What is your writing style? Do you just sit down and write or do you create some other mechanism to help you?
I start out writing on the fly and then at some undefined point (20,000 – 40,000 words?), I create a story map, which is a Word document with a grid that shows plot progression by chapter. This often helps me realize what needs to happen next in my story when I’m stuck, as well as where I’ve left gaping holes.
Who is the “Writing Muse” in your life? I.E. who gets your juices flowing?
I have always loved to read, and I’m pretty indiscriminate in my tastes, since I truly do like almost everything. I do remember being blown away by “Three Junes” (2002 National Book Award winner) by Julia Glass. Blown. Away. Her use of voice, which I’m pretty sure is not admired by many editors nowadays was so crisp, so brilliant. And I’ve never seen the man or even spent much time hunting down info on him online, but I consider myself an Ian McEwan groupie. His writing is so dang fabulous.
How many novels have you written including all work in progresses you are currently working on?
I have three drafted, all in the same series.
Who is your “writing idol”? I.E. Who do you like and what is it about there writing that captures your soul?
In addition to the high-brow folks I mentioned above, I love reading passages from Kresley Cole’s “Immortals After Dark” series for fun, quippy dialogue. J.R. Ward does a rock star job on this front too.
What is you favorite plot line type?
Romantic suspense, no question.
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Just do it. If you’re digging for advice by reading through blogs like this one, you’re toast anyway, so why not give in and write it all out? ;-) Know your work will be rejected more often than you can possibly imagine, stay open to growing and learning regardless, and when you need to, check out those web sites that showcase rejections of well-respected authors, ‘cause they’re a hoot.
What is a good villain?
I remember one creative writing teacher telling me a novel can only be as strong overall as the antagonist is strong. I had to think about that for a year before I really understood it, but the professor was right. Make your bad guy/girl multi-dimensional, and more importantly, sympathetic. Give the reader relatable reasons for why he or she does all that evil. Your other characters – in fact your whole story – will be more compelling.
Blurb for Updrift
Since her father died, Kate Sweeting’s home life has been in the pits, her well-being on life support. Her future looks desolate until she and her mother, Cara, make another plan: abandon their shriveled existence for more promising prospects on the coast, where her mom can play small-town librarian-bachelorette and Kate can figure out what’s up with the secretive Blake family from the beach.
Everyone is eerily captivated with Kate and her mother, and Cara is the first to figure out why when the man of her dreams arrives all dripping and devoted and closed-mouthed about what he intends. Kate is willing to go along with their subterfuge for a while, but eventually makes a charge for the water to learn what her mother is hiding. Gabe Blake is there waiting for her…and so is someone considerably less friendly. By the time Kate navigates her way home, everything will have changed for her—what she feels, what she wants, and what she will risk to be with the man she loves.

Between the Covers - Power of Attraction
Here is a excerpt from Power of Attraction (Blackstone Haven, Book # 1). Enjoy.
Wesley was amused by the look of fury mixed with distress on Ian’s normally affable face. He turned, interested in seeing the person who caused such a reaction. Shocked emerald green eyes stared at him. His heart skipped a beat.
Wesley hungrily took in the woman from the forest. She was real. He wasn’t losing his mind. Unconsciously, he took a step towards her. She backed up a step.
Fury filled him. She had run from him once, and she wasn’t doing it again. With a determined stride, he closed the space between them and grabbed her arm. She tried to shrug him off. He changed his grip and yanked her against his body. A shudder racked him as their bodies touched. The scent of cinnamon and vanilla he had thought he imagined cloyed around them. He felt her shiver in reaction. Her eyes heated then went cool.
A click sounded behind him. Absently, he looked away from her compelling gaze. He stilled at the sight of the gun trained on him. The wrath in the other woman’s amber gaze let him know she was waiting for an excuse to blow him away. Her features, so much like those of the woman he held, told him they were somehow related.
The woman in his arms moved against him. The feel of her soft breasts against his chest drove all sane thought from his mind. He turned and jerked her up into his arms.
“Wrap your legs around me,” Wesley growled.
The woman’s eyes narrowed, but she clamped her legs around his waist.
“Don’t order me around.” Her husky voice stroked along his senses.
He put his face close to hers. “Don’t give me reason to.”
She jerked back. He clamped his hands on her ass to hold her against him. She stilled. Wesley gritted his teeth at the feel of her jean-clad mound against him. His mind flashed to the forest and their kiss. He saw the answering flare in her green gaze.

Interview:
When or what made you decide to become an author?
I’ve always wanted to be an author since I was four years old. I grew up telling stories long before I learned how to write. I never wavered by passing the doctor, vet, and ballerina stages. Naturally writing was the only career path for me.
How do you get an idea for your novel?
I got the idea for Midnight Caller by reading Black Life on the Mississippi by Thomas C. Buchanan. Many of my historical romances are inspired by true events. Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction, such as colored steamboat workers pleasuring white women at night.
What is the inspiration you use?
Do you mean what inspires me? Usually something I read or something I watch on TV. Many historical stories do not end well, and I reimagine them with a romantic happily ever after.
What is your writing style? Do you just sit down and write or do you create character sketches, outlines, or notes?
I work with a general outline of the beginning, middle, and end. I have notes with each character’s goals and motivations and the character arcs, plot arc, and romance arc for my story.
Who is the "Writing Muse" in your life? I.E. who gets your juices flowing when you are blocked?
When I’m blocked I go for a walk or a hike or try to immerse myself in anything mindless like watching a movie or listening to music. I have found forcing ideas to come rarely works.
Walk me though the way you create a novel from conception to completion.
I start by writing a very basic outline and sometimes doing brief character sketches. After I have written the first draft I dig deeper into my characters and make notes for revision, write a more detailed outline, and plot/romance arcs. I edit and refine the story accordingly and then send the next draft to my alpha and beta readers. I use their valued feedback to guide my next editing passes and refine until I feel the story is complete.
What is the type of voice you use and why?
I write with a serious voice and often tackle serious issues like racism and poverty in my novels. I think books can teach readers about the world they live in and even more about themselves. I like to think my books are educational and not just about history. There is a lot we can learn about the human condition.
How many novels have you written including all work in progresses you are currently working on?
If I count my works in progress that number grows weekly! I’ve published 21 stories and I probably have just as many WIPs. The plot bunnies keep coming.
Who is your "writing idol"? I.E. Who do you like and what is it about their writing that captures your soul?
I suppose my writing idol is Beverly Jenkins. She made African American historical romance popular, and has made a name for herself mostly writing in that genre. I love her books.
What is your favorite plot line type?
I enjoy reading many different tropes, but when it comes to writing I tend to gravitate toward forbidden love and star-crossed lovers.
What is your current work in progress and how did get the idea for the Work in Progress?
My current work in progress is a historical romance adaptation of a historical fiction novel I’ve already published. I’ve had many readers ask for the romance version. The Native American/African-American story was inspired by a dream.
Describe the major conflict between the hero and heroine in your novel?
The major conflict in Midnight Caller is the fact that southern society declares the hero and heroine should never be together. By lying with Emma, a white woman, Frederick is putting his life in danger and her reputation.
Is there any advice you can offer to anyone who would like to write?
Take as many writing classes as you can, read books on craft, constantly read books in multiple genres and just write. It often takes many novels which will never see the light of day before you write something worthy of publishing.
Where are the bodies buried? IE Is there any old work in progresses you threw aside and decided not to complete and why?
I have a few stories that need a lot of work. One I started in high school and others I wrote experimenting with plot devices. I doubt my historical mystery WIP will ever see the light of day. I apparently can’t write mystery!
What is a good villain?
A good villain is a well-developed character who is believable and has motivations behind their actions. A good villain will pose a difficult challenge to the goals the hero/heroine wishes to achieve.
Are there any last comments you may want to include?
Happy endings are not just for romance novels. Please do not give up on love.
Re-Release: (Midnight Caller, Haley Whitehall, Liquid Silver Books. This is a re-edited and lengthened version. It also answers one burning question readers were left with after reading the original story.)
Life without love is painful, but in the Reconstruction Era South forbidden fruit can be deadly. A fiery romance between a widow and an African-American man has more consequences than either of them imagined.
Slavery has ended, but racial prejudice remains in Kentucky. Emma Bennett guards a secret that could destroy her life. Until now she never considered the price of her security. Becoming a well-respected member in Louisville had seemed a dream come true, but at what cost?
Her husband’s death from a carriage accident releases Emma from her loveless, controlling marriage. Now she has a chance to find happiness and raise a family. But before she begins courting again she wants to experience her freedom. At the advice of the leading socialite in town, she takes a black lover to fulfill her sexual needs. His raw masculine power awakens feelings she didn’t know existed. After the first touch, she craves more.
Frederick works as a roustabout by day and moonlights as a prostitute. He knows better than to fall in love with his white client, but Emma enchants him the first time he calls on her. To keep them both safe, he works hard to put up barriers. Unfortunately, he can’t protect Emma from the slimy Mr. Hawthorne, who wants her as his bride. Frederick vows to keep her safe even if his forbidden love costs him his life.
Note: This novella contains explicit romance and is suitable for readers 18+

An excerpt
He held his breath, his insides pressed together. Was she going to send him away?
Finally, her lips settled in a smile. “Shall we go to the bedroom?”
“As you wish, ma’am.” He managed to sound casual despite his hardening cock. When he took off his clothes she’d find out in an instant how attractive he found her, how much he desired her, the power she held over him. His entire body heated, embarrassment rivaling the fire of passion.
Already his thoughts had moved past coffee and to his delightful business. He couldn’t wait to see her naked, know the curve of her breasts, let his hands roam her hips. He’d laid with a lot of women, but never one as young and as sumptuous as this one.
“Strip to the waist and sit on the bed.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Frederick yanked off his shoes, and then he folded and piled his coat, vest, and shirt neatly on the floor before sitting on the edge of the mattress. The attraction between them was strong and undeniable. He was a bee and she was a beautiful rose. He was sure her nectar would be delicious, if only he would be granted a taste. Whether he would be granted a taste was in her hands. She was paying for an experience and it was his duty to give her whatever she wanted. It wasn’t in his nature to submit, but the sight of her beauty as she stood before him, made it more bearable.
He knew his job after more secret trysts than he could count and fell into his role with ease. He wanted to please Emma, satisfy her every desire. The excitement in her gaze tempered, and he sensed her hesitation. Hopefully she’d muster the confidence to play her part.
“Spread your legs.” Emma sauntered into him, standing between his splayed thighs. She traced every muscle in his chest. The pads of her fingers caressed him, almost teasing. He tightened his stomach muscles, but was unable to prevent a tiny shudder.
Her smile widened, revealing a row of perfectly straight teeth. A thrum of pleasure rushed through him.
He wanted to wrap his arms around her but resisted. He had not been given permission.
